   Haven't been to Valette in years even tho we live down the street. And what a shame we've been gone so long! We had a fabulous meal. The duck and pork were cooked to perfection and well presented with accoutrements on the plate. The crispy Japanese sweet potatoes as a side were scrumptious. The $35/glass chardonnay was excellent too - tho there are many less expensive & local wines available. Had the steak tartare for an appy and couldn't be happier. Tho I will say that if you're going to serve it as an appy to two ppl then you should provide 4 toasts not 3. All in all - it was a special treat and we'll make sure to return more often! I've already recommended Valette as a "must go" restaurant for my relatives who'll be visiting! We elected to eat at the bar since its nice to chat some times with staff and the bar tender, Adrian, was great company! Definitely great to have such a high standard of cuisine here in out little town and Valette raises the bar.

   Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at Valette. The food was solid, not amazing. The server was efficient but did not give us the time of day - we felt like we were a bother to him. It was my special 60th birthday and they texted before our reservation asking the name of the person who was celebrating their birthday. The waiter never mentioned my birthday and did not seem to care. It’s our first trip to The Montage in Healdsburg and this was a recommended restaurant by the concierge and it was a disappointing and mediocre experience. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants and hotels in Napa Valley that I would suggest that people explore before going to Valette.

   Last night I took my wife to dinner Valette for her birthday. It was our first vist, and a special occasion, so we did "Chef Valette's 'Trust Me' Tasting Menu" along with its wine pairing. It's $20 a course, plus $15 for the pairing, with a minimum of 5 courses. We are spending our children's inheritance, so we had six. That works out to $210 a person. There's also a there's a 3% back-of-house charge, a whopping $12.60 which I begrudge them not at all. Tax and tip pushed us perilously close to the $600 mark, which is still cheaper than 1 person for dinner at Single Thread (where I have never been). It was worth every penny. For each course, we each received a different plate and wine. For example, my wife was presented with the duck and a Pinot, while I has the NY steak and a Cabernet (we traded bites and sips). We completely swapped the poké and beef tartare, since she's not a fan of poké. The standouts (for me) were the scallops en croute, the steak, and the dessert. Amazing food, nicely presented (but not fussy or precious). Alas, no pictures, because I turned off my phone to concentrate on my wife and the food. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived for our 6:30 reservation, and didn't get a lot busier. We got the full Valette experience, as Bob -- Dustin Valette's dad -- came by and chatted with us for a few fun minutes. He basically hangs out with a glass of wine, talking to patrons as the mood and opportunity strikes. I asked him how he got the job, as it sounds like a pretty sweet gig. 😉 Anyway, if you're looking for a special meal, I can heartily recommend Valette in Healdsburg. You will not be disappointed.

   One of the best meals we have had in years. Ingredients and preparation were superb Our waiter was very knowledgeable and was clearly passionate about his job. We will certainly return when next I Healdsburg

   Our second visit did not disappoint. The burrata and poke appetizers were great, but the show-stopper was the duck entree. Just wish we didn’t live 1000 miles away……

    Great dinner! We were celebrating my husband‘s birthday and the evening was just perfect. Before we sat down, there was a birthday card at the table. Our waiter was super attentive, and the food was fantastic. The foie gras was out of this world.  Everyone at the table, loved their meal. We ordered one of the vegetarian options, pork chop, duck, and halibut. Everything was truly wonderful. I highly recommend
