   Delicious food and beer selection, great environment and service. Loved the mussels and Bisky Burger, went with a few quadruple and malt Belgian beers.

   The beer selection is unparalleled in DC.....and almost anywhere else. I started off with the traditional Dutch tavern snack of Bitterballen. They were as good as any I've have in the Netherlands. I am a sucker for rabbit so it was pre ordained that I would order it. I'm not sure where they source their rabbits from but they are certainly well fed! This was a meaty bunny. Delicious. I loved the farro pilaf and the roasted carrots as well. Beautifully plated and generously portioned. I didn't have room for dessert and I passed on their mussels this time but I have had them before and can attest to their goodness. I sat at the bar where service was prompt and friendly. It was a busy Friday night but the food came out quickly.

   Our entire experience at the Sovereign exceeded our expectations! We arrived a little early but were seated immediately in a cozy location. They acknowledged we were celebrating our 40th anniversary, which felt very remarkable. We tried several “flights” of amazing Belgian beers (4 oz pours) along with scrumptious courses- Belgian meatballs, Belgian endive salad, mussels Belgian style and a Belgian waffle with chocolate Chantilly cream and cherries for dessert, which was on the house! Our server, Isabella was superb! Her advice and suggestions were helpful and her pacing was perfect! Every staff member was attentive and friendly. We highly recommend this establishment and will return when we visit again!!

   Salmon Benedict salty, Brioche French toast just ok - a little, avocado toast was ok - enjoyed the toppings, savory waffle was favorable.

    Good selection of beers, but terrible food. How can a Belgian restaurant have processed fries? Despicable!

Your feedback means a lot to us, and we take all reviews seriously. I am sorry that you did not enjoy our fries while you were here. Although we would love to be able to make our own fries in house, our kitchen is quite small and we do not have enough space to make and store them. Almost everything else we make is homemade and we look to source the best possible fries that are available.
