   The food was excellent! It was abundant and arrived looking authentic bistro. If you are into “bistro dining” this is the place.. Service was prompt and efficient!

   Service was perfect, overall great value. The food was true to its Belgian inspiration, and drinks were on point. I especially enjoyed my waffle dessert that takes me right back to Brussels. Thank you for the lovely birthday dinner!

   I visited Sovereign twice and had great experiences both times. The bartenders are very welcoming and make excellent cocktails from their extensive drink menu. The service was perfect, the food was delicious, great wine menu, fun music. My only negative feedback was that I found the chicken stew too salty last night 9/21.) Otherwise very good overall and super fun Belgian themed atmosphere. And its down an alley away from Georgetown's crowds, so you feel like you found a hidden treasure. Highly recommend.

   Food was good, chicken a bit dry but nice accompaniments, duck very nice, French onion soup was excellent; incredibly loud place, great for hanging with a crowd for drinks, but not for chatting over dinner for two. Beer choices and expertise were impressive, but the pours were a bit skimpy. I would come back to hang in the bar.

   Had a wonderful evening at the sovereign. We stopped in for a quick bite before a movie. Our server, Chris, was excellent. Everything came out in a timely manner. Food was wonderful. Loved the n/a beer options and my partner loved the Bees Knees mocktail.

   Excellent experience at this fantastic restaurant! Outstanding selection of draft Belgian beers, great mussels and perfect duck confit!! We sat at the bar and Chris was amazing. Working so fast, so effectively and being so friendly. Recommend highly!

   This place cannot be beat for Belgian beers and then some. Unparalleled hands down. But the food is a 3 at best :(. Pickle plate, while had some great choices like cauliflower, carrots, shitakes... they were all from the same pickling brine, so they all tasted the same. The burger was dry, way too thick and too many 'ideas' and the belgian endive salad just had way too many differing ingredients like green apple and cranberry and the absolutely gorgeous purple endive as chopped she tortured. Note.. it took nearly 40 minutes for these items at 5:30 on a Saturday. The service, sadly, was painfully slow with a lot of money left on the table due to being difficult to get drinks. I would not recommend the food but we will definitely be back and sit at the bar :)

   Wide selection of beer and beverages to accompany a unique menu. Overall experience was great, but waitstaff service was a bit spotty at times.

    Tried out The Sovereign for Restaurant Week. The dinner price is very reasonable and even with the beer pairings it's still on par with many other restaurants. I had the Carbonnade Flamande while my wife had the Mariniere Mussels and both were excellent. The beef in the carbonnade was tender, the sauce was rich, and the vegetables were both tender and flavorful (this can often be difficult to pull off). The mussels were very good as well, with a nice flavor that was pronounced but also not too gamey and they weren't gritty either. That can sometimes be a problem with mussels where there's a lot of grit in the flesh but these did not have that problem. The broth was nice with plenty of lemons which gave it this nice citrus flavor which probably helped with reducing the gaminess of the mussels. The fries that came with the mussels were also nicely crispy. We've had stronger mayo dips for the fries elsewhere, but this dip was still very enjoyable. As for the beer pairings, neither my wife nor I are beer fans, but we appreciated the experience of trying out the different beers (one for each course) and the descriptions that our server provided of each one. We had an earlier reservation (5:15) and it was pretty empty when we arrived, but it filled up quickly. It never got too loud for me and my wife to have pleasant conversation. The Sovereign was the highlight of Restaurant Week for us.
