BAIT AND SWITCH; TOUGH DUCK - I previewed the menu on their website and was going to order the "Seafood Bowl - shrimp, lobster salad, lump grab, scallop and calamari ceviche, mussels, vinaigrette" as my starter, and "Long Island Duck Breast - sweet potato puree, snap peas, blood-orange citrus vinaigrette" as my main dish. Upon arriving at the restaurant and looking at the menu I didn't see the Seafood Bowl and when I asked the waited I was told it was no longer available and they had to update the website. I settled for the Tuna Poke, which despite not being what I wanted was very good. I waited patiently for my duck. When I asked the waited what was taking so long, I told him I hoped they weren't overcooking it. Well I received the sweet potato puree along with the snap peas and carrots which were cooked perfectly. Then I cut into the duck which I had to "saw" it with my knife because it was overcooked. As a duck breast aficionado, I know that duck breast, cooked correctly, should be able to slice with one pass of the knife. In addition, there was no blood orange citrus vinaigrette. When asked if I had a sweet tooth, I just asked for the check. I wanted to cut my losses. Then I took the two hour drive home. What a disappointment!

We told waitress that 3 out of the 4 of us were Glutten free. Two of us ordered the steak and it came to the table covered with fried onions with crumbs one of us had to go to front to complain finally waitress Showed took them back and too quick brought out new ones. Both of us on Two separate houses were very sick that night and all the next day. It’s 2019 glutten free is not new and it’s serious.

Had a bad experience the last time we were here, but I've always liked the Maidstone and decided to try again. Big mistake. Had the shrimp and crab. Looked and tasted like the food at a second-rate chain restaurant. Also, the crabs must have made a run for it , because I could hardly find any on my plate.

Missing menu and drink items. Drinks came after dinner was served. Tip calculated incorrectly. Hostess had a bad attitude.

The food was good and the service acceptable. Very very noisy. My biggest issue was the gentleman who assigned tables had the audacity to tell his assistant to take us outside on an exceptionally hot and humid night. I immediately declined as I saw where we were heading. We were then seated in the air conditioned dining room.

It was extremely loud until one particular table left then it was just very loud. That said, the food was outstanding. If you prefer a more quiet atmosphere I would strongly suggest eating outside. I don't know if it was the service or the kitchen but it was a bit slow, on the night we went the manager was helping the wait staff so I assume that they were short handed. The wait staff could have been trained better they were a bit unrefined. But the quality of the food made it worth it. P.S. Don't skip desert here.

The Maidstone overlooks the village pond and despite the busy NY-27 inside is tranquil with nice views across the pond to the historic houses. The hotel is pet friendly and a short walk from the main shops of East Hamilton We dined in a Lshaped room with our table next to the window overlooking the village. Seats are comfy but a pillow is needed. The server was good and we started with cocktails before oysters on half shell came followed by appetizer of octopus. Nicely done and this was followed by Long Island duck breast Overall well worth a visit

I made a reservation for 11 for a Sunday Brunch. I was coming for a special occasion. I was bringing my extended family for a post Baptism brunch. I called 3 times to confirm. When we arrived we were greeted by a confused, unwelcoming face. No smiles, no welcoming greeting. This lady appeared to know nothing about our reservation. I explained that I not only made it on open table, but then followed up with 3 phone calls to confirm and ask for a highchair. This killed the spirit of the event. She was able to accommodate us, but explained that they sat another family at our table (which was a more favorable location by the windows). Mess ups happen, no need to make my family in celebration mode to feel like I forgot to make the booking, especially since it was not a problem, there was a table available. The food was very good. We were pleased by that. The food took a very long time, but a kind gentleman came to the table explaining that it would be out shortly. The communication was enough to keep us content during the wait. There was a very nice lady that was quite kind to us. I believe she may also work in the Inn. Also, our server, was very lovely. She was a nice girl in a pink apron that was quite kind to us with our two young children. She put in our order perfectly and it came out perfectly. They made a delicious piece of fluke with sliced avocado for my baby girl. It was just right! She was very pleasant and sweet.

Very slow and disorganized service; they seemed very short staffed; there were 4 of us and at least one of us received an incorrect order each course and two of us received an incorrect entre. The table next to us was very noisy.

I reserved for my birthday to be somewhere cozy and nice. The host, not only acknowledging me, not any welcoming greeting and they first gave us the worst table back corner. I asked the hostess who sat us if I can have another table, she said that’s not for two people. But I saw there are people of two had these tables. Knowing it’s my birthday, it’s very disappointing. My dish, fluke came under cooked. Then I had shrimp & crab pasta which was the worst pasta I ever had. Small dish and pasta was over cooked. The worst of all, for this price, they should use fresh shrimp instead of tiny frozen shrimp. If it wasn’t for the friendly waitress, I would not give any start to this place. I’m not going back.
