I have to say this is one of our favourite restaurants! . Ria and the team are fantastic and we are always well looked after, nothing is too much trouble and we are always greeted with a smiling face. We all had the Sunday roast, chicken and beef , which was delicious,! Thank you Ria, for your impeccable service, see you soon. Mel, Jon and Charlie

We visited Green Oak for lunch and were left feeling disappointed despite the promising food. The mains were genuinely tasty—well-prepared and full of flavour. That said, service was extremely slow. It took over three hours to get through drinks, starters, and mains—even though the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. There was little communication from staff about the delay, which made the experience frustrating. Desserts were underwhelming and felt like an afterthought. Most appeared store-bought, and the “Hot Choc Pot” was served cold—more like a basic mousse than the warm, indulgent treat the name suggested. The kitchen clearly has potential, but the poor pacing and uninspired desserts really let the lunch down. If you’ve got plenty of time and patience, it might be worth a visit—but for a casual lunch, it missed the mark.

My husband & myself shared the scotch egg which was delicious. We both had fish and chips. The fish, tartare sauce & peas were outstanding but the chips were not the same as we had the last time. They were bulk standard frozen ones and very dry otherwise lovely meal. A glass of wine is overpriced too

A fabulous early evening dinner with family made extra special by Ria and the team. Ria is an excellent host she is very attuned to us as diners , she is a welcoming and , charismatic individual who I feel cared about our experience. Ria and Sylvie are great at engaging, sound knowledge of the menu . Ria was able to answer our questions on the specials menu and to quell any hesitation about the accompanying crab lasagna with the halibut. The meal was delicious. We found Ria to be aware of where we were during our meal, topping up our glasses , checking in appropriately if there was anything else we required and allowed us time to sit savouring our time together appreciating the moment by not rushing us. A perfect time and looking forward to returning soon, hopefully Ria and Sylvie are on duty .

We regularly visit the Greene Oak. However this time we were disappointed to find that they only had the lunch time set menu on offer in the evening. There wasn't mush on there that we really fancied sadly. I therefore had two starters which were both good and my companion had fish and chips which although good was not that special for an evening out. Please can you bring back the full menu for the evening or make it clear on booking that only the set menu is avaiable

Dear Gill I'm sorry to hear your last experience wasn't as good as previous, I think there has been a misunderstanding. Our set lunch offer is only available at lunch times and encompasses the entire Main Menu for the price, that's a range of 12 starters, 11 mains and 7 desserts to choose from. Our evening and weekend menu is the same content but priced 'a la carte', there is a small box advertising the set lunch price on the menu to encourage more lunchtime visits but is not available at evenings and weekends and you would not have been offered it. Our menu size has been the same for many years and often grows, it certainly is not reduced in any way. I am sorry there was nothing to your liking. We change our menu regularly so please do stop by again soon and give it another go.

Rather low-energy as a whole. Food was ok but batter on cod was a bit flabby; everything felt less well polished than on previous visits. Service was ok but not very attentive, we had to flag down staff to get dessert menus, bill etc. A little more attention to the detail of the food and reading the room better would add the finishing touches.

Good food as ever and all the team very friendly. Only reason I didn’t score a 5 is because we waited almost an hour for our mains (having decided to skip starters). We had to chase and as one of our party of 5 was a diabetic the wait was a little slower than ideal. I appreciate it was a busy Saturday though so it’s probably a rota issue rather than the fault of any one individual

All very good, except the thick portions of the liver - a little tough, and not what one normally expects for a liver dish.
