As one of Englefield Green’s oldest public houses dating back to 1780 we are blessed with an idyllic location right next to the Bishopsgate entrance of Windsor Great Park and a short distance from Guards Polo Club.

We serve delicious home cooked food using fresh seasonal produce all day every day from breakfast with fresh coffee at 9am through to lunch and dinner in our restaurant or bar food in our bar. At the weekends we serve wonderful Sunday roasts with all the trimmings and when the weather is fine there’s an epic BBQ in our beautiful terraced front garden from 12 noon until the sun goes down.

I booked a table with Opentable for six people on the 29th of April two months in advance. My group arrived at the pub for lunch only to find it was closed and under new ownership. Some of us had travelled over 70 miles only to be disappointed. Surely existing bookings for food should have been notified either by Opentable or by the pub. Feeling let down and unlikely to return.

2 Groups of us, A table for 4 and table for 6 arrived for reunion booked 3 months ago to find Pub closed! Have since read online Owners have moved on from Pub. Presumably no one has told Open Table, so we had an email to confirm our bookings the previous day.The next day we arrived ,all happy to meet up....But only to have to find another venue at very short notice!!! We had travelled from miles around, Sussex, and Oxford! Then we get a request for a review! We were made very welcome and had an excellent lunch at The Barley Mow, Englefield Green. Today we receive a request for a review from Open table! Hopefully this review will help any one else with prior bookings , not to be let down

The restaurant is closed for a refurb / change of ownership. But people that had booked were not informed of the closure.

I have no idea what Fox and Hounds is like as when we arrived it was closed for a refurb. They obviously had not informed Opentable of this as other people arrived as well.

The Fox & Hounds is a favourite of ours. We prefer the bar area and love the fact that dogs are welcome. Food and service were spot on.

The restaurant had a nice feel about it .. not loud but you were able to speak at a normal level without feeling you were loud! Service was excellent … Standard of food was good, but not sure all items were worth what they were charging! Ive had better on some items for less money at other well established venues - but it was ok The only “let down” was the floater coffees we ordered at the end of the meal. I can only assume whoever made them had not made one before! They were awful - but overall it was ok.
