This was our fourth visit, but it's been quite a few years in between. The place was beautifully decorated, with a Mardi Gras theme. The appetizers were good. It took a long time for the entrees to arrive, which was surprising, since the restaurant was practically empty (it was early, and a Wednesday). They were also good, not outstanding. It was the desserts that really rated my poor review. We had bread pudding and sweetened fried rice, and both were so dry, we couldn't finish them. Our waiter was very nice.

Lovely place with a consistently great menu and wonderful seasonal options. Especially love the cheese board apps. When I travel to Albany from Saratoga/Malta to meet friends from the Albany area for dinner--this restaurant has become my go-to-place.

We are travelers from the Boston area and found this restaurant while shopping at one of the local stores. We had an evening free and decided to give it a try. The food and attention to detail was excellent. It was a special menu for the night for Mardi Gras. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the Cajun seafood chowder and thought it was wonderful. The dessert was the flourless chocolate cake which was one of the best I have ever had. The service was a bit on the slow side. Our meal with appetizer, main meal, and dessert took almost 2 hours. However, that may be due to staffing of a small Mardi Gras party quietly taking place in the front room. However, we plan to return next time we are in the area. It is a hidden gem because I would not expected to find such a high end/upscale restaurant in this type of shopping location. Not from a cost perspective, but from a quality perspective. Definitely up there with some of the top Boston restaurants. Perfect for a quiet meal or romantic get away.

This was the 4th or 5th time we had dinner at Epicurean. The entrees are described very well on the menu but when the plates arrive they are lacking. For example, on the most recent dinner we had an order of rabbit that was suppose to be on a bed of orzo/herbs. Instead plain white rice was substituted. We had similar instances on previous visits that let us down with the lack of imagination and execution. I really want to like this place.

I'm short on words but everything was perfect, food was fantastic, especially the mushroom risotto. Wine was great and server was knowledgeable. Will be going back.

The Epicurean is lovely. Our dinner for 4 was nice but service was stilted. We waited almost 10 minutes before anyone came to our table after we were seated. Serving size is just right. Probably no leftovers but the food is great.

We frequent the Epicurean because the food, ambiance, and, most often, the service are exceptional. We were a bit disappointed in the service this time, so the Christmas eve experience wasn't quite what we expected from one of our favorite restaurants. Oh, well. Until next time.

The most positive feature ... the ambience. Very nicely decorated, quiet. Service was minimally efficient, but without enthusiasm or connection. Wine pours are very skimpy, especially for a $12 glass. My order of steak frites was not prepared as requested (medium instead of medium rare) and very unexceptional in taste ... quite boring. Potatoes were seasoned nicely and best part of the meal. Creme brule desert was terrible, served in a large and very shallow dish, the consistency of pudding. I find no compelling reason to return given the price/quality relationship ... poor value.
