About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Vegetarian-friendly
  • Charming
An all day bar and restaurant in the impressive Heron Tower skyscraper on Bishopsgate, the drift is brought to you by the team behind The Folly, The Anthologist, the parlour and the refinery. Spread over two levels, its quirky design touches provide a refreshing antidote to the somewhat uniform City bars. the drift brims with quirky collectibles, hidden alcoves, a mixology table and a fine dining nook, whilst offering delights such as afternoon tea cocktails, a crustacea bar and liquid desserts to die for. The modern European menu includes plenty of sharing boards, flatbreads and antipasto boards alongside familiar favourites such as gourmet sandwiches, burgers jam-packed with delicious fillings, hearty mains and seasonal salads. Drinks are taken seriously here with a range of well-crafted and innovative cocktails from well-loved classics to calorie counted ‘skinnies’ and ‘Veg and Herb Patch’ cocktails. An extensive wine list includes over40.

Long wait and just as our food order was being taken a fire alarm went off and we all had to leave. Went elsewhere.

The duck salad is amazing. Also the baba ganoush starter! Always come back for these two. Chips are great and staff are so friendly.

We had a booking for 8 people. We were given a table with bench (not so practical) instead of the corner table which looked much more comfortable ( and which was innocupied for the entire lunch). Service was poor, lack of attention we always had to chase to move into the next meal. When we ordered the coffee and deserts half of us were served 15 min later. Food is Ok but could be better. Toilets re not well looked after.

Don't go on a Friday night for a meal! Full of city boys having a drink. Too loud and completely unappealing. We left and didn't eat.

I’ve been to Drift several times. Previously it’s been very good but this time I felt the food was poor. I had a fish pie that was mostly potato. Staff were pleasant if a little slow, it took a while to be seated (even though I booked a table) and to give them our order. Overall a very average experience, which is a shame because normally they are very good.

Overall was an OK experience. First thing that went slightly wrong was when I thought we would get a decent table since I requested it when booking but we got to seat on a big shared table even tho there were tables available, I kindly asked to be moved and the hostess agreed to it. We then ordered some wine, my moms wine arrived with something floating inside so we send it back and the waiter did not apologize at all for the inconvenience. The service overall was probably the worst part, waiters seems to be chatting a lot and not paying much attention to the customers. Food was OK, nothing special. Silver linings was when the waiter removed the service charge from the bill explaining he does not think the restaurant provided a decent enough service to us. I did really appreciate that.

The Drift is a good spot for a relaxed drink and unexpectedly nice food. Bit noisy but no more than you’d expect. No view of the fish tank though, if that’s why you’re going.
