   Elegant quiet ambience and excellent nouveau cuisine! Although we enjoy Long Beach's many informal dining choices, there are times when you want something a bit upscale. Tantalum is the best choice. It's a tad overpriced, most items being slightly more than even higher end Westside spots, but the setting is lovely and the food is beautifully plated and perfectly prepared.

   Had a wonderful evening here on this very special occasion. Started off with the Strawberry Fields cocktail and it was so refreshing and delicious! My honey and I shared the flatbread and then each ordered the Kobe burger which was amazing but could have definitely split it because it was so filling! We just had to have dessert since we were celebrating 4 years together, and we decided on the dark chocolate lava cake and oh my! so good!! My evening ending with an amazing surprise, my wonderful boyfriend asked the band to bring me up on stage and proposed to me in front of everyone! of course I said yes! :) This memorable night is definitely one for the books!

   I met a dear friend at Tantalum for lunch. The food was delicious. I had the Hoisen Chicken and my friend had the Salmon and would recommend both. We shared the Bread Pudding dessert which was good and large enough to easily share. Dinner can be more noisy, but the view is lovely, the food is good and the decor is gorgeous.

   The view and ambience for this place is very good. We were seated by the window, service was "fair". From the Happy Hour menu, we ordered the lettuce wraps (great taste and value) and edamame (great taste and value). One in our group ordered a Happy Hour Martini which she sent back. Everyone else ordered from the regular menu. We also ordered the calamari (huge portion, she liked it). Food, we got steak. 8oz with wasabi (taste was fine, but for the price, I could have gotten a better steak at Ruth's Chris for that money). All in all, if you want to take your mate for a romantic atmosphere and great view, this is the place. Be prepared to pay for that view. If you are a foodie like I am, I don't recommend it.

   My wife and I visited Tantalum for the first time last weekend. Our excitement was met with a cool reception as the hostess appeared to be less than enthusiastic. We dine out a lot and have become accustomed to a smile and warm welcome (afterall, that's the first 'handshake' with the customer). Nevertheless, after we were seated, we were met by a cheery and smiling waitress. The food was par, but the waitress was forgetful and we ended up having to ask the busboy to fulfill a request since she was MIA once again. Additionally, my online reservation requested a seat at a window if one was available. Miss Unhappy Hostess escorted us to a table right next to an open table next to the window. I asked if there was a problem with being seated next to the window, she replied "Oh, you can sit there if you want." The vibe from her was as if I reminded her of someone who had killed her dog! Maybe this was an off day, but we won't be back.

    The brunch menu was limited but absolutely delicious. The server was on point even when he was double sat. I will be coming back here!
