   We had a fabulous evening celebrating my birthday. The staff, whilst professional, were very friendly and accommodating and the food was amazing. I will certainly be coming back again, thank you! Highly recommended!

   Food is amazing, one criticism we have after visiting twice is some of the service. We felt a particular waitress was quite cold and abrasive, this was the case when we visited a couple of years ago and had the same server. Could have been friendlier as it made us a bit uncomfortable, especially after we paid as we said goodbye to the waitress and the reply was ‘yeah’! We assume this was because we didn’t leave a huge tip. We were also sat next to a table that all the staff were hovering around sorting menus etc, the restaurant was empty when we arrived so we feel we could have been put somewhere else. Tried to take our order far too quickly after arriving, the evening felt rushed which is a shame as the food is very good.

   As always, Smiths Ongar was outstanding. Our go-to restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries etc it never disappoints. Food was excellent, service fantastic, helped to make my husband's birthday special. I think we need to go more often, not just for special occasions.

   We were here for our anniversary and we’re not disappointed. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring our needs were met, and the food was superb.

    We had a fabulous Sunday lunch. Of all the 6 peoples meals were perfect. Every course was wonderful. The roasts are so good. Now the only thing better today than the meals was the service. Our waiter was superb. He was so funny, attentive and provided the best service ever.
