   A fantastic experience for my 30th birthday as treated by my friends and fellow foodies. Its one that you must try if you're on a Michelin journey. The service is exemplary

   We wanted somewhere a little bit different and special to go to for our Christmas lunch and Sketch was perfect. We had the seven course-tasting menu which was ideal for a long leisurely lunch, where the focus is on the food and spending quality time with each other. The service was excellent and the room an experience in itself.

   The Lunchtime menu provides good value in this excellent restaurant, in beautiful surroundings with outstanding service.

   No amount of ambience, service, quirky toilets and French maid uniforms can detract from poor food. Two of our four main courses were particularly dreadful. One of my guests made a valiant attempt but left about half of his and another guest could not get beyond one or two mouthfuls of the shoe leather like beef. The uneaten meal was removed from the bill however when conveying this to us the waiter attempted to detract from the poor quality of the food by saying that the diner in question wasn't hungry enough to eat it. This embarrassed and angered the lady in question who responded with a hearty "no I am starving but the meat was inedible".

   Had a superb experience at Sketch. The main dining room (Lecture Room) was a wonderful oasis of elegance and calm. The service was immaculate and unobtrusive yet they seemed to anticipate your needs before you realised the need yourself. We had the “Gourmet Rapide” lunch with wine and water (currently £53 per head plus service) but as we had no need of the “Rapide” part, we were in no way hurried; the “Gourmet” part certainly delivered. Whilst enjoying a glass of champagne, we were deliberating on what to choose for our starters when the waiter informed us that the first course did not require any choices, all the listed dishes would be served for us to share – this was excellent news as we were struggling to decide. When the dishes arrived, all were very tasty and cleverly designed but, as often happens, some were more to my taste than others. When the waiter cleared the table, I happened to mention that one of the dishes was particularly delicious – shortly afterwards he returned with a generous extra supply of that dish; I was most impressed. The rest of the meal was most enjoyable – the food, the wine, the service, the ambiance, everything (even my handbag was happy with it’s own “seat”). After a most splendid lunch, we were offered a personal tour of the building - it is absolutely fascinating – a wonderful mix of eclectic art and formal surroundings dotted randomly with Swarovski crystals, quite mad. The Café and two further dining experience areas all had their own merits and I would love to go back and try them, especially as I understand that some of the areas are to be re-done by the next generation of artists. All in all, a wonderful foodie lunch and escape from reality for a few hours, I won’t hesitate to come back, even if I don’t quite understand the art!

   The food was slightly left-field (amazing desserts including mushrooms and Parmesan!), but I was hoping for something even more challenging. We went for a tasting menu and they were very accommodating in making one of these meat-free - not just removing the meat, but adding interesting fish and vegetarian dishes. I think I would have given Sketch higher ratings if I hadn't already been to Viajante which is superb. Also, as everyone had said Sketch was great, I think my expectations were set a little unfairly high. Overall I'd definitely recommend Sketch, particularly if you take someone as a surprise - and don't spoil it by telling them about the loos!

   Unfortunately, Sketch had lost our reservation which meant a 10 min delay while I searched my bberry for the confirmation e-mail. There after the experience was faultless. The food was excellent and the service first rate - friendly and welcoming. We had a slap up lunch of 3 courses plus 2 glasses of fizz to start and desert wine which totaled to just over 500 quid. So not cheap but a lot of fun. They have an express menu which is pretty reasonable and the wine list was very well priced starting around 35 quid.

    Their surroundings are just what I want to see in this kind of restaurant. Rich, colourful carpets and decorations flowing with luxury. Comfy seats. Dining here is an experience. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu. Tasty food and the courses had great texture and flavour contrasts. I had been looking forward to our visit here for weeks, but when the date arrived I had been sick for a couple of days and had a sore throat. It was a shame because I wouldn't have got the full taste experience. It was an expensive meal, but in line with my price expectations.
