About the restaurant

When we started out in 2017, we were cheffing up from the courtesy of our home in Portsmouth. It was all great fun and games until customers started showing up to our house for food collections… From there, we took a leap of faith, and a few box meals later, we had our very own market stall on Commercial Road. This was big for us. It was the first time we could connect with the community on a 1:1 basis and actually see customers fall in love after that first bite. Naturally, the food did it’s job, and as word spread, our small gazebo became a local sensation, bringing people together over plates of smoky and spicy delights.
Spicing Up the Community
Since 2017, our "fambily" has been serving up a modern twist on Jamaican cuisine and the community has been our rock.
Come down to our 'Shack' in Portsmouth to experience where it all began and feel the vybez!

Located at the heart of Holybourne, owners Thanasi and Nick have now owned the business since the end of 2021 when they reopened the doors of The White Hart with some serious gusto! Holybourne has fantastic community spirit that certainly spills into their local, also attracting guests from further afield looking for a cosy night away in our six well appointed guest rooms.
Executive Chef Didi Ivan has produced a mouth-watering, locally sourced menu with decadent dishes and absolutely favourites. The crème de la crème are our consistently outstanding steaks, we source from a local Surrey Farm and we cook them to perfection. Paired with our favourite, Chocolate Block - it's a crowd pleaser like no other.
Our gorgeously green garden lends itself to the perfect summers evening and if you're thinking of hosting an event - we've got got all bases covered, all year round.

First time in many years eating at The White Hart. Excellent menu. Better than your usual pub grub and the prices matched. My Meze Platter was delicious. The men's pork ribs were very much enjoyed and the medium size was ample.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Chequers. The staff were really lovely. Cannot fault them in any way. The ambience was great. Busy but not loud. The food was, on the whole, really nice. The adults not wanting to eat too much were welcome to choose from the kids menu. The kids fish and chips were particularly good. The ciabatta with the prawns was a bit too toasted for my parents. They couldn’t cut it as it was too crispy. They wished they’d had the kids meals as they were amazing. Two out of the four burgers ordered were fantastic, the other two not quite so great. I would definitely visit again. Best place I’ve been to eat with the whole family in a long time. There were 10 of us so they did well to get all the food out at the same time! Thank you!

Aside from pho, you can also expect to find amazing sharing starters, healthy salads, hearty rice bowls and decadent curries. They have a range of freshly made juices and also Vietnamese beers and a large wine and cocktail list. Pho’s menu is 40% vegan and nearly entirely gluten-free too. We always come to Pho in Portsmouth as our favourite! This was slightly disappointing. The restaurant was really quiet, and the service was still quite slow. Took the gentleman 15 mins to take our order even though we were trying to get his attending. Chicken Summer rolls and pork spring rolls to start. The summer rolled seemed really condense and not much in them, compared to usual. The mains - chicken salad and chicken curry - both delicious and really tasty! The price seemed really expensive compared to normal too? The salad was £14.95 which just didn’t seem right? Same with the summer rolls usally £6.95, were £7.95? I appreciate it’s the beginning of the new tax year but some costs seem abit much. And again please stop adding service charge - then asking to add a tip too!
