   My wife and I are full-time Big Island residents and dine at Roy's almost weekly. Roy's has one of the island's most creative head chefs (Tyler). In addition to Roy's standard menu, chef Tyler has nightly specials which are always inventive and tasty. For example, last night my wife had Tyler's Easter prix fixe menu; it was absolutely delicious! Roy's kitchen always delivers some of the islands most appetizing food. The food is always plated beautifully and served hot. Additionally, there is a fabulous kid's meal for families with children.

   We love Roy’s! Have been going there for years and now there are all kinds of new menu dishes and other exciting changes. If you haven’t been there in awhile, you need to check it out. Can’t wait to go back.

   The food was good. However, the acoustics are terrible and they make it worse by blasting music with lots of bass. We asked them to turn it down but they didn't. You can't hear anything that the others at your table are saying. It's definitely not a relaxed Hawaiian vibe.

   Everything seemed off here Server seemed to be overwhelmed, perhaps had to many tables. Order a bottle of wine, basically popped and poured, no initial taste. Ordered a hot appetizer and a salad. Hot one came out and salad came out wrong long, after the hot appetizer was finished. We both had the same entree, one was hot, one was cold. Server never came around to see if everything was ok.

   We had a wonderful dining experience at Roy’s. Our table was next to a window overlooking the property lake. We drank Hawaiian martinis and Mai Tais, both of which were exceptional! For dinner, we had the Adobo Pork Shank and the meatloaf. The pork shank was so tender I could have eaten it with a fork. We no longer have Roy’s where we live so this was a real treat to dine here again in Waikoloa! Thanks for a fabulous dining experience.

   Our server George was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. The noise level in the restaurant is too loud for my taste.

   We escaped to the Big Island while grieving the loss of a beloved family member, hoping for even just a sliver of peace—and somehow, Roy’s gave us that and more. We didn’t share our story with anyone, yet the staff’s kindness, attentiveness, and warmth wrapped around us in a way that felt healing. It was the kind of hospitality that doesn’t just serve you dinner—it lifts your spirits without saying a word. As for the food? The misoyaki butterfish is melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the blackened ahi is packed with bold, beautiful flavor. We ended our night with the pineapple upside-down cake, and I’m convinced there’s magic in that dessert. This meal brought us a moment of joy during a time of sadness—something we’ll never forget.
