   We booked this for a 50th lunch prior to theatre before reading reviews but I'm so glad we went ahead. Don't let the other reviews put you off - I would recommend this venue. It's a cafe not a Michelin restaurant and the food was good, honest stuff. It was a bright venue and comfortably sat us all without feeling crowded. The service was friendly and timely so we were off in time to get to the theatre on time plus very close to Buckingham Palace.

   Very disappointed as last time I visited I liked the restaurant. This was a pre theatre dinner . Both items my husband and I both ordered were not available , we should have been told that before we ordered . We didn't want any anything else on the menu so we decided to leave . We had already ordered a glass of prosecco so asked for the bill and had to pay for that would have hoped that they would have given that to us . This was a recommendation to my husband from me so overall a bit embarrassed . Maybe this is only suitable for breakfast and lunch times not evening .

   Four of us went here and the atmosphere is nice considering other touristy options. There wasn't a huge selection of hot food - mostly sandwiches and salads.

   It was an unfortunate day to visit as the restaurant was down to one chef servicing a packed restaurant. By 1pm they were unable to offer any hot food and at least half of the remaining sandwich options were exhausted. What arrived nearly an hour later was mediocre and the filling portion meagre, clearly in an attempt to eke out what rations they had left. In fairness the staff were doing their best to cope with a suboptimal situation not of their choosing and we were given a 20% discount. However, considering we had a 3yr old and a baby with us, I felt they should have been upfront about explaining the kitchen issues (rather than let us find out for ourselves by asking mid lengthy wait) as we would have elected to go elsewhere.

   I did not believe the reviews about the poor service or the restuarant being 'closed', we went last year and it was fantastic! Sadly the reviews are true. We arrived for our booking at 2 only to be told by the waitress they were closed. When I explained we had booked she went and got her manager who said they had been flooded and had to evacuate the building, blatantly a lie as the dining area had people sat eating in it and staff were using all the kitchen area. Do not book you will be disappointed, a complete let down. No real apology was offered just a lie to my face. The prices are higher than the area average. Went to Le Club express cafe round the corner, excellent food, brilliant prices much better then the royal quarter cafe.

   At least four items were unavailable that we wanted: both quiches, salmon salad, and scones. We were offered a replacement baked good ("even if it was more expensive") with our afternoon tea since there were no scones, and then were told that cakes were a different category and we could only have a croissant. Ridiculous! I regret having brought my parents there. Of the food we got, it was inconsistent in quality. Would not recommend the afternoon tea.

   We were so disappointed in out visit. We were a party of 4 for early dinner, the service was slow and we had to ask to order. Dispite having pre booked we were told that we were lucky as the kitchen was closing. My friend ordered falafel which had run out, as she was a vegetarian this made ordering limited. After the good arrived we had igredients missing from the meal hat we had not been told about. The toilet facilities were disgusting!!!! This is a real shame as the cafe has all the aspects to be a lovely place to eat but there seems to be a lack of effort on all parts.
