We had a large party of 9 and the staff was extremely kind and patient. The food was lovely- don't miss she brushetta. Entrees were good and hearty. Service was at the level you'd expect at this price point.

FAQs

Caffé Molise blends casual-elegant dining with historic charm. Guests love the beautiful, old building, warm lighting, and occasional live jazz that create a romantic, upbeat atmosphere. That said, the restaurant can get noisy when full (especially upstairs or on weekend nights), so it’s best for lively date nights, celebrations, or a quieter weekday lunch depending on timing and seating.

For a lively, musical night try Friday or Saturday; for a calmer meal and shorter wait choose a weekday lunch or an early weekday dinner. Sunday evenings and weekday early dinners can be pleasant and less noisy. Your choice depends on whether you want lively ambiance or a quieter dining experience.

Yes, reservations are recommended and the team accepts seating preferences, celebration notes, and private-party arrangements. Guests often ask for quieter seating, early seating for shows, or notes about anniversaries; many servers accommodate these requests, though some guests report inconsistency, so call ahead to confirm special arrangements.

Families do dine at Caffé Molise and guests bring teens or celebrate birthdays with children, but it's primarily a casual-elegant adult dining spot rather than a kid-focused venue. There isn’t a dedicated kids’ menu on the listed menus and some guests found kids’ plates pricey. For younger children consider an early seating, patio or private room and call ahead about menu flexibility.

Yes, Caffé Molise has a seasonal outdoor patio that guests enjoy when the weather is warm. Patio seating is popular and limited, and the restaurant asks that guests keep patio dining to about a two-hour limit. Patio tables fill up fast on pleasant evenings, so reserve in advance if you want outdoor seating.

Possibly, reservations are recommended and many guests advise booking, especially for weekend evenings, live-music nights, or theater nights. Walk-ins are welcome but may face a wait when the dining room is full; calling ahead or reserving through OpenTable is the best way to avoid lines.

Yes, Caffé Molise hosts private parties and can accommodate larger groups in banquet-style or private-room settings. Guests praise the restaurant for group dinners and events, and the building’s upstairs rooms are often used for larger parties. Contact the restaurant to discuss menus, capacity and booking details for private events.

Portions at Caffé Molise are generally generous and shareable. Many guests note large entrées and appetizers that can be shared between two (polenta, antipasti, and pastas are often mentioned), and several reports recommend saving room for dessert because portions are substantial. If you prefer lighter plates consider sharing an appetizer and an entrée or ordering salad + pasta.

Yes, Caffé Molise is a popular choice for date night. Guests consistently praise the historic building, candlelit tables, live jazz on some evenings, and a menu of elevated Italian dishes and wine pairings that create a romantic vibe. Expect a lively room when busy; if you want a quieter table ask for downstairs seating or an early reservation. Perfect for special occasions, theater nights, or a relaxed, elegant dinner in downtown SLC.

For a quieter experience, go at lunch or early dinner on weekdays; many guests say lunch is relaxed and efficient. For atmosphere and live music pick weekend evenings or nights before shows, those are lively but can be louder. If you prefer a calm table, request downstairs seating or an early reservation on busy nights.

Caffé Molise follows a casual dress code. Guests typically dress smart-casual for dinner or date nights; reviewers mention a range from casual to dressier attire. If you’re celebrating something special many still dress up, but formal attire isn’t required.
