Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina's contemporary Mexican bistro located in the Upper East Side. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina's creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Overpriced and pretty small portions. $62 for Carne Asada? Would be better off going to Smith and Wollensky’s at that cost.

Daniel, Rafael, and Vanessa were are outstanding and so is the food. My only item I think should be attentioned to is the relative new printed menu, the type is too small for the ambient lighting, hard to read.

The food was excellent, but the portions rather small for the price. They were very accommodating in spite of the fact that the weather suddenly changed and we were thrust into a rainy late afternoon early evening, dinner rather than sunny and 74°. I will be back when I can afford it again.
