Once again our visit to the White Horse Tavern was well worth the trip (200 miles). Everything was as it has been during our past dinners there: wonderful atmosphere, service, staff interaction, food, extensive wine list in all price ranges. We are already looking forward to our return in our next trip to Newport.

We had a lovely dining experience celebrating a birthday dinner. Our meals were outstanding. The only thing better than the food was the service. Chris was terrific & we look forward to returning again soon.

We had the best dinner at White Horse - our server, Brittany was awesome and the food was exceptional. I had the bolognese and OMG it was heaven - savory and delicious. The bread pudding is a must!

I've seen a wide range of reviews for the White Horse Tavern so I was a bit apprehensive when I went there for dinner. Now that I've eaten there, I understand the range. If you are someone who wants to eat a well made meal, and not be rushed and are willing to pay for quality, you will love this restaurant, as I did. However, if you like to eat quickly and value price over quality, you are going to be disappointed. My wife and I had a great meal that was well prepared in a beautiful setting. We were never rushed and we were never pushed to eat the more expensive items on the menu. The ambience is lovely, the servers were friendly and stayed out of the way just the right amount. And the food was excellent. Every app and main course was delicious (we shared tastes). But if you are someone who rushes through experiences, don't bother with this restaurant as it won't be worth it for you. Savor the meal and it will be worth the added quality of this place!

What a glorious cap to a glorious day in Newport. The building is a magnificent representation of pre-Revolutionary War structures. The service was impeccable: knowledgeable, welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. The food was spectacular. I had the swordfish which was cooked to perfection; my friend said her steak was also the best she'd had .. could almost be cut with a butter knife. The bread pudding was to die for and even the coffee was outstanding. Wish Newport was not a 2 hour drive or else this would be a frequent dining destination for me.

Overall, the dining experience was very nice. You definitely wanna go to be at the oldest restaurant in the US. But, for the price, the beef Wellington was missing the duxelles or crepes depending on recipe is used. The beef was cooked great and the scotch egg was a must.
