Toro, in Boston, helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef, Ken Oringer, serves delectable Spanish tapas dishes in its contemporary and charming restaurant. The tortilla Española with a kale, egg, potato and onion omelet and the Boquerón's white anchovies in vinegar and olive oil make excellent pintxos starters. Some of Toro's most vibrant and delectable tapas plates include the chicken empanada de pollo with charred tomato salsa, the salt cod fritter croquettes de Bacalao with tempura lemon rings and the asado de huesos roasted bone marrow with oxtail marmalade. Equally inventive cocktails, such as the morning star with spicy gin, dark rum, citrus and ginger beer and the tinto de verano with red wine mixed with lemon-lime soda.

Toro's weekend brunch plates include the salchicha y huevos jalapeno maple sausage, fried eggs and crispy potatoes and along with other plates, make it a prime brunch spot.

We celebrated my birthday at Toro in Boston last evening, and overall, the food and service were outstanding! Every dish was delicious, and the waitstaff was attentive, professional, and welcoming. A special shoutout to our server, Luis P., who was exceptional and made our evening even more enjoyable by chatting with my husband in Spanish. Unfortunately, our experience with the hostess upon arrival was disappointing. When we checked in, another staff member noticed it was my birthday and thoughtfully suggested that we be seated at a lovely window table. We overheard the entire exchange, including the hostess dismissing his suggestion with a casual "yeah, yeah." Instead, we were seated immediately alongside another couple farther into the restaurant, with no acknowledgment of the occasion. It wasn't about needing a special table or expecting special treatment. It was about witnessing a thoughtful employee try to make a guest's birthday a little more special, only to have his gesture brushed aside. It was an unfortunate first impression, particularly at a restaurant where the rest of the staff clearly takes such pride in hospitality. That said, the food was fantastic, Luis was wonderful, and we truly enjoyed our meal. I would absolutely recommend Toro for its cuisine and excellent waitstaff. I just wish the hospitality at the front door had matched the exceptional experience we had once seated.

It was cold outside—amazing to see so many of us out there in our hoods because the food is that good. But the food would definitely have tasted better if we were warmer.

Meal and services were lovely. We sat on the patio and it was a busy siren night in Boston so it was quite loud. I do recommend. Especially the burrata and squash dish.

If you want good tapas, go elsewhere. Food lacked flavor, depth, anything memorable. Very crowded, compact seating—terrible for a true share tapas experience. Incredibly overpriced. Add the loudest 90s dance music to make conversation impossible. Awful place. Sad we wasted a dinner here.

the beat-bop, rap, loud dance music is so inappropriate for this beautiful venue. I thought I was at a college pub - too loud, too vulgar, horrible beat and rap - didn't make any sense. Please tone it down to nice music. Awful. People all around me were complaining - so strange

The staff was very rude and condescending. When we were being seated at the bar, I politely asked if we could shift over because the bar was entirely empty and they sat us next to the only two other people at the bar. The bartender replied: “No, you’re going to sit here. You people are always trying to make up your own rules.” As someone that worked in the service industry for many years, this was totally uncalled for. Food was overhyped.

Wow -- great restaurant. Wonderful drink, food, service and ambience. Cod croquettes were amazing and the grilled squid was cooked to perfection. I loved the goat cheese dish too -- everything was really great. Hard to get great tapas but always can at Toro.
