Seafood tower was ok, service was slow even though they weren’t super busy. It’s good especially if you are trying to find some crab in Key West.

The food well I have been an Executive Chef for the past 30yrs 20 yrs of which I was the Executive Chef for the PGA TOUR, my wife and I ordered the whole lobster stuffed with and I quote LOADS OF SEAFOOD, so when I ask the server what seafood is the lobster stuffed with he replied shrimp and stone crab but it comes on the side I said great we will take two, the lobsters came and no we’re did I see our server not until we were finished, I asked him we did not receive the shrimp and stone crabs on the side he then pointed to my plate and said there it is and I Laughed and this is a sauce not loads of seafood or shrimp and stone crab on the side and then he apologized and gave us a key lime pie as a gesture of the restaurants error, I then suggested he word his verbiage differently and not to mislead the customer. I then suggested he talk to management and reword the menu!

The food was very good, service was very good. The steamer portion was well worth it. We stopped by at 1:30 so it was quiet and half empty so the service was great and the wait time for food was good. The fried fish needs a different seasoning, it was well fried and juicy but a bit out of flavor. We will stop by on our next vacations. (Way better than A…’s Oyster Bar)

Was a little disappointed with the variety in the menu, expected slightly more entrees or dinner dishes. But that being said, the raw bar food was excellent. The stoned crab claws did not disappoint one bit, and the oysters were also very good. The peel n eat shrimp was fine, but not the best that we had on the island. It was still good, but next time probably will just get more crab instead. Drinks were very good. Would go back.

After a good lunch experience my wife and I returned for dinner… after being seated and going unnoticed for 30 minutes we left. In addition other diners left as well. Servers walked past the tables when they did appear and never acknowledged anyone… very disappointing

FAQs

Yes, The Stoned Crab can make a fun, casual date night, especially if you enjoy fresh seafood and a waterfront setting. The all open-air dock seating and shark feedings add memorable Key West charm. Keep in mind food and service are inconsistent in guest reports: some couples had excellent meals and attentive servers, while others found slow or spotty service. For a relaxed, seafood-focused evening, pick an early seating or call ahead to secure a good table.

Busiest: evenings and weekends during peak Key West tourist season, guests frequently report crowded nights and slow service then. Quietest: weekday lunches and early dinners tend to be calmer, and some guests found midweek visits very relaxed. If you prefer quiet, aim for weekday lunch or an early dinner.

The Stoned Crab is open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Those are the posted hours, but if you’re planning around holidays or special events it’s a good idea to call ahead to confirm before you go.

Casual. The restaurant lists its dress code as casual, and guest photos and reports reflect relaxed, island-style attire, shorts, sandals and casual shirts are common. If you're celebrating a special occasion you can still dress up a bit, but formal wear isn’t required.

Likely yes, the restaurant lists daily hours (11:00 AM–10:00 PM), which suggests it’s open most days including holidays. Because holiday hours or special closures can change, call ahead to confirm if you’re planning a holiday visit.

Portions are generally generous for the steamers and shared plates. Guests frequently mention big steamer pots, large seafood towers and a paella that easily feeds multiple people. That said, some individual entrees have been described as smaller or not worth the price by other guests. If you want value and a hearty meal, order a steamer or a shareable dish and consider splitting large plates.

Yes, many families dine here and guests with mobility challenges report easy access to the open-air dining and dock areas. Kids enjoy the shark feedings and seafood steamers. That said, a few guests mentioned occasional hostess confusion and seating mix-ups, so call ahead if you need a specific accessible table or family-friendly spot.

Yes, call ahead to request specific seating or accommodations. Guests have reported staff accommodating special requests like making off-menu cocktails and cracking stone crab for parties. That said, reservation and hostess handling is sometimes inconsistent in guest reports, so calling ahead is the best way to confirm special needs.

Yes, families and children dine here frequently. Kids enjoy the steamers and some guests highlight the shark feedings as a fun activity for families. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming to children, but keep in mind some dishes are pricier and food quality can be variable, so pick shareable steamer plates or family-style items for kids.

Casual, kitschy Key West waterfront, think open-air dock dining, seafood smells, and tourist-friendly charm. The shark feedings and dockside lobster tanks add local flair. Guests praise the relaxed vibe and scenic waterfront seating, though some report flies, chilly nights without heaters on, or nearby highway/pool views that are less scenic. Overall it’s breezy, informal and seafood-focused.

There’s no published information about a formal waiting list, but guests report waits and occasional long delays during busy periods. Reservations via OpenTable are used, though some guests experienced reservation and seating mix-ups. Best approach: reserve ahead, arrive on time, and expect variable wait management during peak tourist evenings.

Weekdays, especially weekday lunches or early dinners, are generally the best times for a quieter experience and more attentive service. If you’re after the shark feeding spectacle, plan around the 1 PM or 5 PM feedings. Weekend evenings are more tourist-heavy and can mean longer waits.
