Located inside the InterContinental Kaohsiung, WA-RA Japanese Restaurant invites you on an elegant gastronomic journey inspired by the rich traditions of Japanese cuisine. Helmed by Executive Chef Masakazu Kudo, a disciple of a Michelin two-star master, WA-RA seamlessly blends classical techniques with modern creativity.

At the heart of the restaurant’s culinary artistry is “Warayaki”, a traditional straw-fire searing method that dates back to the Edo period. This unique technique is paired with the refined philosophy of kaiseki cuisine, presenting each dish with seasonal flavors, exquisite craftsmanship, and cultural depth.

Bar: 18:00–01:30
Saturday & Sunday:
Opens earlier at 17:00
(From 22:00, bar snacks available. Last food order: 01:00. Minimum order: one drink per person)
Closed on Mondays

Additional Information:

A 10% service charge applies to all prices

Dinner is à la carte only

Corkage Fee: NT$500 per bottle of wine; NT$1,000 for spirits or sake

Reservations for the next month open on the 20th of each month

Reservation Policy:
WA-RA is a reservation-only restaurant. Reservations can be made online or by phone. For parties of 6 or more, please call the restaurant directly at 07-3390303 after 15:00 for assistance.

Please inform us in advance if you need to modify your reservation date, time, or number of guests.
If phone lines are busy and we miss your call, we kindly ask for your understanding.

InterContinental Kaohsiung Sustainability Initiatives
In support of environmental sustainability, InterContinental Kaohsiung and WA-RA Japanese Restaurant are actively reducing the use of single-use utensils.

Starting June 21, 2024, guests requesting takeaway at WA-RA will be charged NT$30 per eco-friendly container.

If you bring your own containers or pick up food to-go from outside the restaurant, a 10% service charge will apply (eco-container fee waived).
