   First time I went to this place was three years ago, and it had been two years since my last visit when I went back in April 2025. It’s as good as ever. Fantastic cocktails. And you can’t go wrong with the croquettes, veal meatballs, grilled carrots in yogurt, the unleavened bread…pretty much everything.

   Food was exceptional. Our server was really great. The only negative was that they literally brought all of our food out at once. She suggested that we get 3-4 starters and 3 mains to share for four people. But then they literally brought out all 7 dishes within 5 minutes of each other. No pacing, and by the time we got to our last main, it was cold. It was way too fast, and made it difficult to really savor and enjoy each dish.

   Really lovely brunch. Esp as a solo diner, really appreciated the care of the staff. Everything was delicious and really represented Hawaii well. Corned beef and Kalo (taro) hash with 2 sunny sides, side of kitchen, sliced avocado, and the most delicious dark rye bread. Perfect bites. Side of pohole (fiddlehead ferns) salad with shiso dressing, nori, and sliced okra, sweet onions, and diced raw yamaimo (Japanese mountain yam). Fresh, crunchy, with a slippery texture (okra, yamaimo). Highly recommend.

   This was the first time eating at Mud Water Hen and we were very happy we did! We ordered the chicken long rice croquettes. It came with a curry sauce it was delicious. You get two large croquettes in the order. The Peanut Tofu is creme brulee size and came with a sweet shoyu sauce. It was very silky and smooth. The Mapo Rice Cake is a play on Korean Tteokbokki, with chewy mochi strips in a mapo tofu sauce. Really enjoyed it. Last we ate the chicken. It was tender with a limu salsa. That was a lot of food for two people. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxing and the service was excellent. Would definitely go back again!

   We been going to Mud Hen Water quite frequently. We like to take out of town guest here. Food is local and always delicious! The staff is always great!
