About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming

Harbor Seafood & Steak Co. opened in August 2014 and is located on the corner of 2100 South & 2300 East in Sugar House. Since then, Harbor has been serving quality interpretations of classic dishes with the highest level of ingredients.

We wanted to create a neighborhood restaurant that gives our guests a sense of home. Our menu is based on simple comfort food, where the taste and quality stands for what we believe in. Founded by Randall Curtis & Taylor Jacobsen, our goal was simple: give our guests not only the freshest seafood and wagyu steaks but also serve an affordable wine selection and great artisan cocktails for only $13.5. And oh yeah, the music is great too.

The bernaise sauce that came with my halibut entree was not very flavorful. Eggroll appetizers were also bland and soggy. Sauce tasted like cocktail sauce. Risotto was very salty. Raspberry sorbet was excellent as was the chocolate cake. Service was excellent.

The food was so amazing . Everything we ordered was delicious . I have been to a lot of fine dining in the SLC area and this was a stand out place . This was an anniversary dinner for my husband and I and we had such a great time. I want to go again as soon as I can . Don’t miss out on this place !

Eating on the patio was great. Too many restaurants play irritating music in the background. The food was excellent. My wife said her fish and chips were the best she ever tasted. Serving sizes were large.

One of things that really impressed us was how the serving team worked together. One of the other servers helped us 3 times when our server was busy with tables on the patio (we were seated inside). The bus man (he was really a second server) was so amazing that we tipped him separately. He was always there to take care of anything extra we needed. He has worked at Harbor since they opened and is an excellent employee - I hope he's making a top hourly wage, Mr. Manager! The food was, as always, delicious. The second server (who we also tipped separately) took our appetizer order (Coconut Shrimp) and it was wonderful. Our entrees were flawless (shortribs, scallops, halibut) and the sides perfect as usual. We were even served a special Father's Day dessert, and our appetizer was VIP comped! If you haven't dined yet at Harbor Seafood & Steak Co you must go!

Absolutely charming local restaurant! Staff is attentive, friendly, and the food is delicious! We had filet and ribeye, both prepared to perfection. Wonderful menu and highly recommend if you want an amazing dinner with a local establishment instead of a chain!

Incredible food. Outstanding service. A delightful patio in the summer... however there's a lot of street noise from the traffic. Enjoyed eating inside. Best oysters on the half-shell in the valley! Dogs allowed on the patio.

The best fish and steak in Salt Lake City!! The service is perfect. Randal is a great host and the decor looks like San Diego at its best. This is a must go spot in SLC

FAQs

Yes, Harbor is a popular date-night spot with a cozy, romantic vibe. Guests frequently celebrate anniversaries and special occasions on the covered patio “greenhouses” or inside for an intimate meal. Expect attentive service, well-executed seafood and Wagyu steaks, craft cocktails, and desserts that make evenings feel special. For the quietest, most private experience ask for patio greenhouse seating or an early reservation.

Dinner hours are listed on the restaurant page: Mon–Thu and Sun from 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM; Fri–Sat from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Because special events and holiday service can vary, call ahead or check the restaurant’s listing for any changes before you go.

Portions vary by dish but guests generally find them generous and satisfying. Proteins (Wagyu, filet, seafood) are described as well-prepared though some guests note protein portions can feel smaller relative to price; sides are often plentiful, examples include large mashed potatoes, whole heads of cauliflower, and hearty gratin. If you like variety, many diners recommend sharing appetizers and sides to sample more flavors.

Yes, Harbor welcomes families and has seating options that can be accommodating. Guests report family dinners, birthday celebrations, and staff helping patrons with mobility needs (assist with seating and walkers). The layout is small and intimate, so if you need wheelchair- or stroller-friendly seating or have accessibility questions, call ahead so the team can reserve an appropriate table.

Midweek evenings (Tuesday–Thursday) are the best bet for a quieter, more relaxed meal and easier patio greenhouse availability. If you want the most energetic atmosphere, choose Friday or Saturday. Sunday evenings can also be pleasant and slightly less busy. Reservations are recommended any night.

Warm, intimate, and neighborhood-focused, Harbor blends casual-elegant decor with a relaxed soundtrack and attentive service. Guests praise the cozy interior, well-curated music, and the shaded grapevine-covered patio greenhouses that feel private and romantic. Some diners find it lively/noisy at peak times, so request quieter seating if you prefer a low-key meal.

For a quieter, more intimate experience, aim for weekday dinners or an earlier seating. Guests report that Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest and liveliest; midweek and early evening seatings tend to be calmer. If you want the patio greenhouses, reserve early (they’re popular).

Guests have been seated outside with well-behaved dogs (one guest mentioned being seated with their dog 'Barbie' and the staff provided water), so outdoor patio seating appears dog-friendly. For service animals, local laws typically allow them indoors; the restaurant’s formal pet policy isn’t listed, so call ahead to confirm details about emotional support animals or indoor seating with pets.

Yes, Harbor has a covered patio with private "greenhouses" that many guests praise for privacy and ambiance. Outdoor seating is popular for date nights and calm dinners in good weather, so reserve early if you prefer patio dining.

Casual dress is the stated dress code. Guests commonly wear smart-casual attire for date nights and special occasions; the atmosphere is polished but relaxed, so comfortable, neat clothing is appropriate.

Yes, Harbor’s staff is known for being accommodating. Guests report the team handles dietary restrictions and special-occasion requests (anniversary treats, allergy accommodations) well. If you need a specific table (patio greenhouse), accessibility help, or have food allergies, call ahead to confirm and the staff will usually do their best to assist.

Families do dine here, and guests often bring teens or celebrate birthdays with children. Harbor focuses on seafood and Wagyu steaks rather than a kids’ menu, so younger children may have fewer off-the-shelf options. For a smoother visit, consider an earlier seating or request a patio greenhouse or a quieter table, and call ahead if you need menu flexibility for kids.

Guests report dining at Harbor on holidays like Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, so the restaurant does operate for some public holidays. Holiday hours and special events can vary, so call ahead or check the restaurant’s website or reservation system for confirmation before planning your visit.

Yes for outdoor dining, several guests describe bringing dogs to the patio and staff providing water bowls. The covered patio greenhouses are a beloved outdoor option, so if you plan to bring a dog, reserve patio seating and call ahead to confirm current pet policies. Indoor dog access is not documented.

Harbor offers an intimate dining room, a lively bar area, and a covered patio made up of private "greenhouse" booths that guests love for privacy and ambiance. The restaurant is relatively small (roughly 20 indoor tables reported), and patio greenhouses are popular for romantic dinners. There’s no formal private-dining room on file, so call ahead if you need a reserved secluded area.
