This was our third visit to Morimoto, but our last visit was 8 years ago. The last time we dined, I was blown away and gave them 5 stars. This visit, fell a little short for me. I loved our hamachi ponzu and miso black cod were fantastic. The chicken noodle soup was a huge miss for me, 2/5 stars. An advertised " Morimoto chicken noodle ramen soup" that is lacking of any distinguishing flavors other than chicken bone broth, served with pho noodles was 100% not what I expected. Anything that comes from Morimoto, I would expect something that sets it apart. There was nothing that set apart this dish than what I make at home. The chirashi bowl served with fresh wasabi was solid, it reminded us of Japan which is always a good sign. The toro scallion roll was also a bit of a miss. I was surprised at how cold the actual fish was, which affected the experience. Overall, sadly I wasn't impressed with our visit and not sure we'd be coming back any time too soon. We ordered 2 cocktails, black miso cod, hamachi ponzu, chicken noodle soup and chirashi bowl. We left full and satisfied, and our bill was about $200 including tax and tip. Our server was attentive and friendly, and gave us her favorite recommendations.

Hi Tiffany, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and allowing me to have an opportunity to follow up with you on the phone. I truly apologize that Morimoto Ramen Soup and Toro Scallion Maki didn’t meet your expectations this time. Your insights help us strive for the highest quality in every dish. While I'm sorry your recent experience didn't quite match what you loved before, I hope you'll give us another chance to delight you again in the future.

My wife had the omakase menu and I ordered à la carte with mostly sashimi and the blue prawn scallop congee. The server organized my meal to pace with my wife’s omakase. The sashimi were all top grade from Japan. Blue prawn congee was of generous portion and done just right. The omakase menu reflected some of the best on the regular menu and was presented very well. Overall service was exceptional.

Amazing service! The actual restaurant is one of the biggest draws. It's so beautiful inside!!! Get dressed up you won't regret it. It's definitely a wonderful restaurant experience. The food was good. The sushi was not amazing. So I think it's worth the value, but not if you're looking for blow your mind level sushi.

FAQs

Portions vary, Morimoto leans toward tasting and shareable plates alongside fuller entrees. Guests note that omakase and small-plate courses are intentionally modest and artful, while mains like Hot Stone Wagyu, Wagyu Beef Udon, and Crab Fried Rice are more substantial. If you’re hungry, order a mix of small plates and an entree or shareable rice/noodle dish to feel satisfied.

Weekdays (Mon–Thu) are generally the best days if you want a steadier, quieter experience; early Sunday evenings can also be calmer. For lively energy and a full nightlife vibe, choose Friday or Saturday. Reserve early for weekends and special occasions.

Morimoto serves dinner in the evenings. Regular hours listed by the restaurant are: Mon–Thu and Sun 5:00 pm–10:00 pm; Fri–Sat 5:00 pm–11:00 pm. Always call or check the website for holiday hours or special events.

For a quieter, more relaxed visit, choose an early dinner or a weekday night (Mon–Thu) and consider counter seating. Many guests note the restaurant gets noticeably louder later in the evening and on weekends, while early seatings and midweek visits tend to be calmer and better paced for omakase.

Morimoto offers a few seating experiences: the sushi counter (highly recommended for watching chefs), a lively dining room, and an upstairs lounge. The restaurant also accepts private-party bookings for groups. If you prefer quieter or chef-facing seating, request the sushi bar or ask about private/private-party options when booking.

Morimoto lists Business Casual as the dress code. Guests commonly dress up for special occasions; smart, polished attire is appropriate for the restaurant’s casual‑elegant setting.

The restaurant can be busy and guests sometimes experience seating delays even with reservations. While an official waiting‑list policy isn’t provided here, reviewers mention waits and being seated later than reservation time, it’s best to arrive on time, call if you’re running late, and contact the restaurant directly about wait‑list procedures when booking.

Yes, Morimoto is a popular choice for date night. Guests consistently praise the sleek, modern atmosphere, attentive service, and show-stopping dishes (omakase, Wagyu, black cod) that make it special-occasion friendly. For a more intimate experience, request sushi counter seating or an early reservation to avoid peak noise. Expect a dressy-casual vibe and higher price point, ideal for celebrations or a memorable night out.

If you need accessible seating or have mobility concerns, call ahead so the restaurant can reserve an appropriate table.

Yes, Morimoto lists that it allows private parties. Guests also report special‑occasion service (birthday surprises, group celebrations), so private or semi‑private event options are available; call the restaurant to discuss capacity, menus and event timing.

Morimoto has a sleek, modern and energetic vibe, guests frequently call it swanky, space‑aged, and cool. Service is usually attentive and personable, but the dining room can get loud on busy weekend nights. Overall it’s stylish and fun, great for celebrations and nights out, though not always quiet for intimate conversation late evenings.

Families do visit Morimoto and guests frequently celebrate birthdays and special occasions with children and teens. While there isn’t a kids’ menu, the menu has approachable items (ramen, rice dishes, sushi rolls) and staff have been accommodating to families and strollers. For young children, request an early seating or a table with space for a stroller.
