El Orso fue inaugurado en 1983 por el empresario de restaurantes del Theatre District Joe Allen, y sirve comida italiana regional en un ambiente acogedor e intimista.     LOVE this restaurant which was closed for far too long. It's my "go to" pre-theater destination. Small but innovatively wonderful menu, great service and reasonable -- for NYC -- prices. Fresh oysters are a wonderful addition to its former menu.

    We were there after a show on Thursday night. The “happy hour” bottle of wine was very good; the pizza and the risotto were splendid; and the service was perfect. It was a marvelous evening.

    We LOVE Orso -always go there after seeing a play-my partner will ONLY eat a pizza from Orso-it’s the best ! And the staff are terrific-great wine selection and ambiance while decompressing after a terrific Broadway play-

    Such great service before a show!! The waiter made sure we made it out in time for the show!!! Food was excellent!!! Very accommodating with last minute changes in our reservation!!

    Very good service and ambience. I ordered the pork chop which was overcooked but still tasty. Others at the table really enjoyed their food. We'd definitely return.
