The food was a bit disappointing. Menu is very limited with no Seafood option Two people ordered the chicken one person ordered the steak and one person ordered the mushroom entree the chicken was mushy the mushroom entree was pretty good but lacked some flavor I'm not sure about the steak. The best thing on the menu that we tried was the carpaccio but it was so small it was barely worth trying. They've done a nice job on the remodel and the Ambiance is nice with the live music but the food needs some work. Try it again in a year and see if it's gotten any better.

Gerald, thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the ambiance and live jazz, and I appreciate your honest comments about the food. We're introducing a refreshed menu next week with several new dishes, including new seafood offerings, while also continuing to refine recipes throughout the menu based on guest feedback. We truly value comments like yours because they help us improve. We hope you'll consider visiting us again to experience what's new. Thank you again for giving Repeal a try.

Overall the ambiance of this place was nice, however be careful when ordering drinks because they will offer more expensive liquors without stating that it is an upcharge. If they were more transparent about their pricing of different liquors I would be more inclined to go but I think this will be the first and last time we go there as of now.
    RepealResponded on July 2, 2026
Eleanor, thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the ambiance, but I'm sorry to hear your visit left you feeling surprised by your drink pricing. We never want a guest to feel caught off guard by an additional charge. When recommending a premium spirit or upgraded pour, our team should clearly communicate any additional cost so guests can make an informed decision. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we'll use your feedback as a coaching opportunity with our team. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance to provide the transparent, welcoming experience we're striving for.

Excellent overall experience. The only negatives were, 1. Somewhat too loud, even with the small amount of customers, there’s just nothing that really absorbs sound in the space 2. Quality of the live music. Might just be my taste, but I’ve heard a lot better Jazz in restaurants far less fancy The positives! Staff-amazing. One of the guys noticed our table wobbled a little and immediately fixed it. Never felt like I was looking for a waiter, ours was always available when needed and also never seemed to hover. Hard to balance those but they did really well Food! Taste and plating were incredible! Overall look, presentation, temperature, all excellent. Drinks were amazing as well - notably so My only suggestion would be give the staff a little more training on specific menu items and pairing suggestions. Our guy seemed to struggle there and didn’t seem to really have much knowledge about tasting/pairing etc.
    RepealResponded on June 30, 2026
Thank you for the thoughtful review, Mike. We're delighted you enjoyed the food, cocktails, and service, and it's great to hear our team took care of the little details that helped make your evening enjoyable. We also appreciate your feedback on the acoustics and menu knowledge, and we'll continue investing in training so our team can provide even more confident recommendations and pairings. Regarding the music, we feature a variety of talented local musicians throughout the week, with different styles and lineups depending on the day and time. Our earlier evening performances often have a different feel than our later full-band sets and weekend jazz jams. We appreciate you joining us and hope you'll visit again to experience another side of our live music program.

Drinks were great, I wasn’t a fan of the food. Service struggled due to a large table. So I give that a bit of a pass.

Ryan, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your understanding regarding the service that evening, and I'm glad you enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. I'm sorry the food didn't leave the same impression. We're introducing several updates to our menu next week, and we'd love the opportunity to welcome you back so you can experience what's new. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback, and we hope to see you again soon.

The server (Troy or something with a T) I don’t quite remember his name. He was kind at first but when I didn’t order more cocktails his attitude and demeanor changed and my whole family had noticed. We had gone there for my birthday because it was so slow to our next distention but I wish we had gone else where or had at least got a different server, especially since the other servers and employees were all so happy and kind and helpful but out server I don’t think smoked. Got upset that we had the check split and told me that “if” I come back in that they won’t split my checks. I do apologize that this is such a burden, you should maybe post something at your door or on your site that you don’t split checks or that there is a cocktail minimum I would be sure to take my business elsewhere. And maybe not have the server tell me at check out while surrounded by my family on my birthday. I was excited to see SLC got another jazz bar since so many have gone under over the years, too bad it feels like this one can also go that direction since a server wasn’t satisfied with their job and they had to bring down their guest as well. I hope to right people can read this and make the correct decisions because I would be nice to go back one day if things change.

Sam, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm very sorry that your birthday celebration ended on such a disappointing note. I'm glad you enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but it's clear we fell well short in the service you received. No guest should leave feeling embarrassed or like they've become an inconvenience. Regardless of how checks are handled, that conversation should always be approached with professionalism and hospitality. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We'll be addressing your feedback directly with our team because it's not the experience we want anyone to have at Repeal. We sincerely hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity to provide the kind of hospitality you expected when you chose to celebrate with us.

We did the Chef’s Tasting, and unfortunately it was a letdown. First, despite the name, this really isn’t a jazz club. There was a pianist, but if you’re expecting a live jazz experience, you’ll likely be disappointed. The presentation is beautiful, but the portions are tiny and the food lacks flavor. We had to ask for salt, and even our waiter admitted several of the dishes could have used more seasoning. Overall, the courses were mediocre at best. Nothing stood out as memorable or worth coming back for. The atmosphere is undeniably cool, and that’s really what you’re paying for. If you’re looking for a stylish place to have a drink, it delivers. But if you’re expecting an exceptional dining experience, it falls well short. At $85 per person for the Chef’s Tasting, the value just isn’t there. Salt Lake has far better restaurants, and if you’re after live music, there are also better options. Skip this one.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Matthew. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the service and atmosphere, though we're disappointed the Chef's Tasting didn't meet your expectations. Our tasting menu is designed to showcase a variety of seasonal flavors and techniques, and we're sorry it fell short for you. We appreciate your comments and will share them with our culinary team as we continue refining the experience. Thank you for giving us a try.

The food and cocktails were tasty, but very overpriced, especially the small plates/shareables. Our service started out really strong, but waned as the evening progressed. Our server never came to check on us after we received our mains. I would have had a second glass of wine, but he never came back. Also, when we were initially seated, the hostess informed us that they expected to be busy and there was a two hour time limit for our table. That isn’t mentioned anywhere on the website. Had I known, I would have made our reservations for later. We had planned to hang out listening to music and have drinks for several hours. The jazz pianist was enjoyable. I wish they had who is playing each night on their website.

Thank you for visiting, Nicole, and for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the cocktails, live jazz, and atmosphere. We're sorry the service did not remain consistent throughout your evening. Missing the opportunity to check back after entrées and offer another glass of wine is not the level of hospitality we strive to provide. We also appreciate your comments regarding our reservation timing policy. You're right that expectations like that should be communicated before guests arrive, and we've since updated our reservation information to make that clearer for future guests. Thank you as well for the suggestion regarding our musicians. We appreciate the feedback and hope to welcome you back to Repeal soon.
