I left Mariscos feeling underwhelmed. The food felt slightly gimmicky, with no particularly strong menu item. We tried just about everything on the menu and I think that the strongest was the rice and beans, weakest being the shrimp gobernador. For quite a few dishes we just took the seafood out and ate it separately. I do not think there was enough cohesion between the Mexican flavors, and seafood- which there is a lot of room for traditionally.

Thought it was very good and love the atmosphere and neighborhood. The food is great quality. There's something over engineered about the ceviche. Flavors were good but muddled. The fish tacos were great quality but ours were over fried and the batter tasted a little burnt. That was disappointing. But I would give it a try again - I just think the existing reviews are a little too glowing.

I don't know what went wrong, but we've never experienced such terrible service before. We only saw our actual server twice and had to ask various other staff members to place our order, get our check, and inquire about missing food items. We waited so long to order drinks that the hostess noticed we hadn't been helped and took our orders herself. We were trying to make it to a show upstairs and thought it would be a quick meal. When everyone’s food arrived except for our friend's, we were told there wasn't enough space on the table. They kept trying to serve us food we didn’t order, which our friend finally accepted because he was hungry, and he was told it would be on the house. Additionally, we were given shots and informed they were complimentary due to the confusion. When we asked for the check, no one brought it, so we had to request it from another staff member, who ended up closing us out. When we got home, we discovered that we were charged for the shots and the food we didn't order. The food was delicious, but the overall experience left us with no desire to return.

Love everything about this restaurant. Everything is superb fresh delicious sauces and salsas. The tuna tostada is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The ambience is fun and welcoming and comfortable. Plan to return often.
