Mocktails are great, food is good, tiramisu is ok. Service was not good at all. We had a 6:45 reservation for 2 and our table was not ready. It took 25 minutes or so for someone to come drop off bread. Then another 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table. Mocktails came after our appetizer. We ordered dessert to go and went to the restroom while they brought it…someone cleared our leftovers in those few minutes. We had indicated it was a date night on the reservation and were seated in the middle of the loud part or the restaurant. There were booths in a quieter back part that would have been a better choice.

My husband and I are still talking about our wonderful experience at this beautiful restaurant. Everything was simply perfect. The service so freindly and attentive, the food out of this world. Have the tableside Cacio e Pepe - it's divine. I would go back to Washington again just to go to this restaurant.

We had dinner last night. We enjoyed the small cheese/meat plate, olives and honey were delicious. We both had pasta dishes as the mains, I loved the lemon/barrata pasta so simply and unique. Lamb ragu also very tasty. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine from Pulgia.

Gluten free pasta passed the wife test. We enjoyed a bottle of Chianti from Tuscany. I had the house special pasta made at the table. Absolutely delicious.

FAQs

Portions vary by dish; many guests find pastas and mains appropriately sized, but a consistent theme is that some entrees feel small for the price. Several guests mentioned being satisfied with pasta portions, while others said items like branzino or some mains left them wanting more. If you’re sharing appetizers and planning multiple courses, the portions generally work, but budget for starters, a main and possibly dessert for a full meal.

The best times are weekday lunch or an early weekday dinner when the room is calmer and service tends to be quicker. Guests frequently recommend lunch (including restaurant‑week lunch deals) or an early seating on non‑show nights. Avoid peak weekend evenings, holidays and pre/post‑show times when the restaurant is busiest, loudest and service can be stretched thin.

Yes, Olio e Più is a popular choice for date nights thanks to its cozy, Italian trattoria vibe, attractive décor and many celebratory touches. Guests frequently praise the tableside cacio e pepe, carbonara and desserts which make it special for a night out. Note the room is often lively and quite loud, and tables can be small and close together, so plan for an energetic, intimate-but-busy evening rather than a quiet, private one.

Yes, the team frequently honors special requests. Guests report that birthday notes and celebratory requests are often acknowledged (some received signed cookbooks or special desserts), and staff have accommodated allergies. Because the restaurant can be busy and space tight, call ahead for seating needs, allergy accommodations, or celebration details so the team can prepare.

Yes, guests reference other Olio e Più locations (notably the NYC location and comparisons to other sister restaurants), so this DC spot is part of a group with additional branches. If you’re curious about a specific location or menu differences, check the restaurant’s website or call for details.

Yes, guests report dining at Olio e Più on holidays (including busy Christmas and Valentine’s nights), though holiday service is often very busy. The restaurant also notes that kitchen hours may differ, so call ahead to confirm holiday hours and to make sure they can accommodate your reservation.

Yes, some guests mention sitting outside and enjoying patio seating when available. Outdoor seating can be a pleasant option when the weather is good and helps avoid the louder indoor acoustics, but availability may depend on reservations and the season.

Lively, energetic and warmly designed with a trattoria feel, the owner emphasizes 1970s Italian elegance and Mediterranean liveliness. Guests love the vibrant vibe, lively bar and celebratory atmosphere, but many also warn it can be very loud, with music and close seating making conversation difficult. If you want an upbeat, buzzy dining experience with great Italian-style dishes, this hits the mark; for quiet conversation, pick an off‑peak time.

Weekdays (Tuesday–Thursday) or a weekday lunch are generally the best choices for a more relaxed experience and quicker service. Weekend nights and holidays are very lively but tend to be louder and busier; if you want the energetic scene, pick a Friday or Saturday night, otherwise choose a weekday for a calmer meal.

There’s no formal public info about a waiting‑list policy, but guests report the restaurant gets very busy and that delays can happen even with reservations. Reservations are recommended; if you have tight timing, call ahead the day of to confirm. Expect possible short waits or shifts in seating when large parties or theater crowds arrive.
