   Good food and ambiance. Very disappointed as I was unknowingly charged for eel sauce and spicy mayo. Each sauce was $4 so it came out to $32 in sauce with the waiter never having told us of this charge. This was a very poor experience that definitely ruined the way myself and the rest of our group of 7 looked at the restaurant.

   We love Varsol! Food is great, service is great. Ambiance is fine, nothing special but doesn’t matter because the food is so good!

   This was my first time here and I will definitely be returning soon. Our waitress was very helpful and quick about everything. The food portions were generous and tasted great. I am not one to write reviews often but they did a great job.

   Booked for a special occasion and noted that on reservation. My senior was taking his girlfriend after the homecoming dance. Specifically looked for a place open late as the dance didn’t end until 1030. Sushi was important as that is her favorite food. At 730 called by the restaurant to let me know they don’t book 1115 reservations and it was an error and they rescheduled to 11. The restaurant sent out a new confirmation. At 930 I received another call telling me kids needed to arrive by 1030 in order to eat. At 11 kitchen would be closed. I explained kids couldn’t make it as dance went until 1030. I could not reach them until then and physically impossible to get from school to restaurant in that time. Asked for mgr as this was the second time not honoring my reservation. Explained he was the manager and that he was doing me a favor in trying to ensure the kids could eat. My son worked hard to research a Japanese restaurant open late. Everywhere they post open until midnight. He knew he could get there by 11 so booked accordingly. I had a conversation with the restaurant when they first called to reschedule. A second time to call with only explanation that you don’t know who called earlier is unprofessionsl. . Even sent the rescheduled by restaurant reservation. Let mgr know he was ruining homecoming experience for my son. They ended up going for fast food. Suggested maybe he could have them back for a date night. Told me not his problem and wished me blessings. . Noticed others commented in reviews about not honoring reservations. This was specifically noted as a special occasion. Stay away. Don’t risk your special occasion here. Remember what it feels like to be in high school trying to impress a girl. Go elsewhere. Restaurant has no soul and no heart.

   Decided to try a new sushi place. Service and ambiance was good. Rolls were a bit pricey but very good (Brie & Jungle roll) and huge so didn’t mind the price. Would return next time we’re in the Grove.

   Absolutely loved it! It’s my second time going and I really liked everything we ate! My dad and I got one of their sashimi/nigiri/and you chose a roll sharing platters and man… not for two people only (at most three medium-hungry people). We did have 2 apps for their happy hour, the crab salad and the fried gyozas. I totally missed “fried” in the gyozas and forgot I don’t like fried gyozas anymore (they were delicious, just steamed is my preference). The salad was wonderful and fresh, very cooling for an extremely hot afternoon. I had also gotten one of their mocktails (it had something with “sober” in the name), super yummy but a little too sweet. The waiters we had were amazing and very attentive as well. Overall, I recommend this restaurant! :)

    I’ll definitely be back, this has become my new favorite sushi spot. Highly recommend trying the Mita-Pon Truffle Roll.
