   I’ve eaten at Oakwood many times. They’ve had Thanksgiving buffets and Easter buffets in the past that were tremendous. As time has gone on they did not offer either a Thanksgiving or Easter buffet and we truly missed them. We travel from Chicago to Green Lake where we have family and we looked forward to the buffets. Heidel House and Oakwood are our favorite place to eat. It’s beautiful and the food is delicious. The staff are friendly adding to an overall relaxing and enjoyable experience. I really hope they bring back the Thanksgiving buffet!

   Our reservation was for the Easter buffet. Service was prompt and courteous. However, the value and quality of the buffet was subpar in our opinion. For the cost of the buffet, we had hoped there would be a Sous Chef slicing prime rib and ham or making omelets or something. Instead, the beef entree was very tough beef tips and scrambled egg was the egg selection. We were also informed that juices were available for an extra charge. Overall, the buffet mirrored your typical hotel breakfast, with the exception of the desserts that were available and ok (nothing stellar).

   Graycie was our server and she was excellent. I had the walleye and it was very tasty with great presentation. Very pleased with food and service.

   They are really trying to be a nice upscale restaurant……but the waite staff lacks; no mention of specials, not taking the ladies order first, way too long between salad and main course. And the place was 25% full and even with reservations we waited 20 to be asked if we wanted a drink. The filet was market price, but low quality. Overall a disappointing meal. Too bad, I’m local & had high hopes.

   Beautiful setting. All four had Walleye dinners and the fish was perfectly prepared. We always meet friends here when we want to have a conversation, because the noise levels are managed with fabrics and a glass divider between dining and the bar.

   We have been going to the Hiedel House for over 55 years. It’s an experience that gets better with every visit.

   We chose to eat at Oakwood because Green Lake is halfway between us and another couple. As a resort town, Green Lake is quiet during the winter so the restaurant wasn't busy on a Friday night. We ordered shrimp havarti and potato skins for appetizers, and ribeyes, beef bourguignon, and gnocchi as entrees. The shrimp havarti was delicious and the steaks were large and cooked perfectly. The only complaint is that the potato skins were just that: potato skins, like large not quite done potato chips. We expected them to have toppings like cheese but there was nothing on them.
