Food is just not that good. Everything else was fine, but food was a big let down.

Food was decent. Tried to order the broccolini and they were out. Same for the bottle of wine. Seemed to be out of a lot of things for a Monday.

Very mediocre experience. The service was uninspired and the food was terrible. It smelled moldy and wasn’t worth the money.

Felt mislead by many of the social campaigns that make it appear to be a “speakeasy” while we arrived it was wide open and just a regular restaurant. There was an odd cleaning chemical smell in the room. The trees were pretty, food was good but a little on the salty side. Waiter was very nice and attentive.

I booked this reservation for my birthday and was super excited to attend! It was hands down the worst dining experience I have ever had in SLC. I tried ordering multiple different bottles of wine off the menu and none of them were in stock. I asked the waitress multiple questions about the menu and she beat around the bush with answering my questions. When she finally brought one plate of pasta there was no silverware on the table for around 20 minutes, untill we asked. I ordered a steak and she brought me the completely wrong cut of meat. From start to finish it was a terrible experience and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Please save your time and money! You have a better chance going to Olive Garden!

Amazing atmosphere. Cocktails were made perfectly. The food was outstanding. The bussing staff was incredibly efficient and professional. Our waitress on the other hand, was not knowledgable about anything served from the bar, she was not attentive and seamed to not want to be there at all.

We had a really great night at Lupessa. The restaurant has a warm, comfortable feel, and the service made the experience even better. Everyone we interacted with was kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Our server did a great job making sure we had everything we needed while still giving us time to enjoy the evening. The recommendations felt thoughtful, the timing between courses was smooth, and nothing ever felt rushed. It was one of those dinners where you can tell the staff actually cares about the details. Great food, beautiful space, and service that made us feel truly taken care of. We would happily come back.

The food was good!! The service was very slow! Bartender was slower than molasses! It wasn’t that busy at all either. I personally won’t go back.

FAQs

Portion sizes vary by course: many guests say the salads and focaccia are generous and shareable, while mains tend to be moderate, some diners feel portions are smaller than expected for the price. Because of this, guests often recommend sharing antipasti, salads, a pasta (primo), and a protein (secondo) so you can taste more without over-ordering. If you’re budget-conscious, plan to share plates or order starters and split entrees.

Partially, Lupessa welcomes families and guests often celebrate birthdays or bring teens, but accessibility can be limited. Several guests reported many stairs and that accessible entry was difficult to find, so wheelchair access may be a challenge. Seating is mostly plush booths and intimate tables; while groups of up to six have dined comfortably, large parties can be tight. If you need family-friendly seating or accessibility accommodations, call ahead so the host can try to seat you in a suitable spot.

Yes, Lupessa is frequently recommended for date night. Guests praise the romantic, whimsical decor (cherry-blossom/illuminated trees, plush booths) and nightly live pianist that create an intimate vibe. Many people call it perfect for anniversaries and special evenings, though some note it can get loud or bright near the bar. Expect an elevated Italian menu and moderately pricey plates; consider booking a reservation and asking for a quieter table to make the night extra special.

For a more relaxed experience, visit during early weeknights (Mon–Thu) or Sunday dinner when it’s generally quieter. Weekend brunch (Sat–Sun) is popular and well-reviewed if you want a lively daytime meal. Friday and Saturday nights tend to be busiest and event-adjacent evenings (Delta Center shows) draw crowds, book ahead for those times.

Yes, the staff are often accommodating if you call ahead or note requests on your reservation. Guests report successful requests for quieter tables, celebration accommodations (cake requests, anniversary notes), gluten‑free options in some cases, and seating preferences. Because availability can change (some menu items or GF pasta have been limited at times), call the restaurant or use their website to confirm details before you arrive.

Lupessa’s atmosphere is upscale, whimsical, and often romantic, warm lighting, decorative trees, elegant wallpaper, and nightly piano music set a memorable tone. Many guests call it a beautiful, date-night spot. A few guests mention the bar lighting or louder music can diminish ambiance on some nights, and noise levels vary depending on crowd size. Overall it’s stylish and lively, well-suited for celebrations and special evenings.

Generally yes for families with older children or teens, but it’s more of an upscale spot than a casual kids’ restaurant. Guests often bring families for celebrations and report comfortable booths and large shareable salads. There’s no consistent mention of a kids’ menu, so if you’re dining with younger children consider an early seating, shareable plates, or calling ahead to ask about menu flexibility.

Dress code: Business Casual (as provided by the restaurant). Guests report that enforcement is relaxed, some visitors have seen more casual attire like hoodies or flip-flops, but many still opt for polished attire for the elevated setting. Business casual or smart-casual is a safe choice for date nights and special occasions.

There’s frequent evidence that Lupessa gets busy and guests sometimes wait for tables even with reservations. While reviews don’t confirm a formal, technology-based waitlist, hosts and management handle seating and occasional delays. Best practice is to reserve in advance for Fri/Sat or event nights, arrive on time, and call if you’re running late, staff have managed waits and seating issues in guest reports.

If you want a quieter, more relaxed meal, choose a weekday (Mon–Thu) or Sunday evening. For a lively experience with the full energy and weekend buzz, Friday or Saturday nights and weekend brunch will deliver the atmosphere many guests enjoy. Pick a weekday for quieter service and easier seating; pick a weekend if you want a festive vibe and live music.
