Bird Land Ginza is a grilled chicken restaurant awarded one star by Michelin in 2010, the first star-holder of its kind. You may enjoy yakitori of the finest quality Okukuji Shamo Chicken. Chicken is cut into parts on-site, and we try our best to serve fresh meat only. We carefully select the charcoal to fuel the grill. We grill the finest chicken with the Japanese best charcoal, Kishu Bincho-tan. Please come and visit us!

    I had read the mixed reviews beforehand and I come down firmly on the side of a lame and uncomfortable experience with food that I think I could have prepared better. Add on the fact that our server was handling raw chicken one minute and the next minute taking cooked chicken off of skewers and slicing them with his bare hands with no thought of washing and then serving them to us, this felt unacceptable to us. Worse still, the food was bland, sometimes undercooked and very repetitive. I had hoped for better but cannot recommend this restaurant to people who love food.

    The worst food I have ever had. Service was ok as was the atmosphere. Tourist trap. Overpriced food basically ate chicken fat/skin literally on a skewer and chicken hearts etc. So disappointing!!!

    I've been to many yakitori restaurants in Japan, some of which are less famous but their food taste so much better.I got the impression that this restaurant caters to foreign tourists. After reading reviews that said it was great, I had high hopes for this restaurant, but there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it

    This place was recommended by the chef of another yakitori restaurant which was not open while we were in Tokyo visiting. And it did not disappoint. It’s in the basement level of a building and very lively from the moment you enter. The mood is convivial, a nice change from some of the upscale sushi places. We had the basic set course menu which was plenty of food. Everything was tasty and it was fun to try all the different parts of a chicken. Would recommend to anyone!

    Had high expectations but was left disappointed. I've had better yakitori in Hong Kong's Yardbird and random street yakitori places around Japan. The yakitori in Bird Land lacked seasoning and some were served still raw on the inside (while I am unsure if this is traditionally done this way, it was not flavorful at any rate). The highlights were surprisingly the grilled cheese and the tomato salad (but see my note below). Also noted some sanitary red flags during our dinner: (1) One of the chefs working on the skewers poked his finger with a skewer at least twice. He seemed to be bleeding, as he squeezed his finger and wiped it with some towels. He proceeded to work on the skewers without washing or wrapping his finger. (2) My companion's salad had a live insect, which we returned (but only after she had a few bites). The staff was apologetic and replaced her salad. Nonetheless, this is unacceptable from a starred restaurant.

    Fantastic restaurant with friendly service. Opted for the full course experience which was great value and appreciated the creative uses of different meat cuts. We sat at the counter and were able to watch the courses being prepared over the BBQ, was an overall great experience!
