Nice small restaurant. Food was good. They have a small menu. Hostess could have been better. Restaurant was pretty much empty. We had a reservation for 2 but she sat us by the walkway/waiter counter when the entire place was pretty much empty. They had nice 2 top tables by the window which stayed empty until we left.

The perfect Friday evening: the War Time piano one hour concert played by Harry Mayronne on the General Patton piano in the Patriot's Lounge and a meal at Cafe Normandie. The crab beignets and fried oysters were perfect. Trout Almandine was New Orleans all the way. Kicked up Beignets for dessert were a perfect end. Throw in great, safe, reasonable parking next door to the Higgins Hotel. Can't wait to try breakfast there soon!
Cafe Normandie at The HigginsResponded on March 26, 2026
Dear Chuck, Thank you for taking the time to leave us an excellent review. We are so glad that you loved our oysters, crab, beignets, and fish. Our savory, classic, rustic French cuisine, influenced by New Orleans' rich culinary history and style, is hard to match. Accompanied by live music in the Patriots' Lounge and only makes the dining experience that much elevated. We are happy that you plan to come back to enjoy Cafe Normandie again and hope to offer a just as memorable breakfast next time around as well. Until then, safe travels.

Our service was incredibly slow. We were not waited on before a table seated after us, I had to go to the bar to get a drink after 15 minutes of waiting. That said, food was very good and value is good. I think they were understaffed.
