About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
For years, Paolo and Teresa Gaspari honored their Italian roots by bringing people together to enjoy good food, great wine and the company of friends and family. In 2019, John Ekizian took the reins and remains excited to continue the tradition of La Famiglia. The simplicity and perfection of fresh ingredients is the root of every meal we prepare here at La Famiglia, and all of our dishes pair beautifully with our vast collection of fine wines. From our pasta to our sauces, even to our freshly-squeezed lemon juice, we start from scratch. One bite, and you’ll understand the difference that handmade truly makes. Our courteous and attentive wait staff is ready to welcome you. Whether you’re joining us for a special night out, a family gathering or simply because you’re craving a delicious Italian meal, we hope you’ll spend it with La Famiglia.

La Famiglia, without a doubt, is the best Italian restaurant in town. Always a great meal here. Julio, our server, was very friendly and attentive. Thanks for a memorable time.

We have been patronizing La Famiglia for over 20 years.......it is sad to see the gradual but steady decline in food quality.

We have had some fine dinners at La Famiglia but our most recent experience was disappointing. Everything is ala carte, service is rushed, and food is inconsistent. My dinner of Linguini Mare had a fair amount of clams and mussels but the shrimp and scallops were hard to find. Not what you expect to receive when you order a high-end seafood dish. My husband's Parmigiana di Pollo was an ample portion, enough to take some home, so that was a bit better. But we were rushed along, which was uncomfortable, and it didn't feel like a fine dining experience. The young women who serviced our table did a good job, making sure we had plenty of grated Parmesan and full water glasses. But overall it was not what we hoped for.

Karla provided excellent service. We always enjoy our meals here. My salmon dish was not as described, but delicious nonetheless. Cherries jubilee table side prep was a fun bonus!

Our server Ben was excellent. Offered specials clearly, answered questions on the spot and was attentive on a regular basis. We really enjoyed our food, and felt there was value there. We will be back! Perhaps add votive candles to the tables and dim the overhead lights, making it feel a bit more intimate for a quiet meal. Thanks to the chefs as well!

Not the same experience as the previous owners ..staff in dining room seemed very young and inexperienced..Caesar salad oily not creamy …pasta special oily not saucy ..server was not really present but wait staff (Buser water ) were okay. Several times had servers trying to serve us dishes we had not ordered that were for other tables in the area..which is why mentioned young and inexperienced..food was disappointing and to end the meal the joke of the night was what they called tiramisu ! Ha!

One of our favorites in Reno. The food is always delicious - I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the cioppino. The service is impeccable. Never a miss.

Casual dress is the stated dress code. Guests wear anything from smart casual to nicer jackets for special occasions, the atmosphere is welcoming without formal attire required. For celebrations or date nights many diners opt for slightly dressier casual looks.

Weeknights (Mon–Thu) or early weekday evenings tend to be the best choice for a quieter, more relaxed meal. Weekend nights, especially when a Pioneer Center event is scheduled, are lively and popular for pre‑show dining, so reserve early if you prefer that energy or want a specific table.

Best time: early dinner (around opening or early evening) on non‑show nights. Guests consistently recommend early seatings before Pioneer Center performances to avoid crowds and to enjoy a more relaxed meal. Expect peak noise and busyness on Friday/Saturday evenings and during shows; if you prefer quieter service, choose a weekday or an early reservation.
