  • Neighborhood gem
Restaurant Rebirth; Where the Locals Eat! - is one of OpenTable’s 2018 "50 Best Southern Restaurants in America”, and features regional Louisiana cuisine perfectly balancing fresh local seafood and bold Cajun flavors. South Louisiana native Chef Ricky Cheramie honed his culinary skills in some of New Orleans' top restaurants including K-Paul's, Emeril’s, and Commander's Palace. He was also influenced by time spent cooking in Boston and Maine, including a stint at the renowned Grill 23. Chef Cheramie creates food for the soul such as Country Gumbo, Blackened Scallops with Maque Choux, and Mississippi-Style Barbeque Pork Belly. Located in the historic Warehouse District, Restaurant Rebirth's intimate dining room, with exposed wood beams and original brick, showcases local art and is the perfect destination to enjoy craft cocktails, as well as a variety of spirits, wines, and local beers.

This is a small, intimate but casual venue. They take great pride in their food and wine and it is very evident. An unparalleled dining experience.

Food was not fresh. Apples in salad turned. Pork was flavorless. Close your eyes and could not distinguish walked protein you were eating.

After reading the reviews, I was expecting more and left a bit disappointed. The fish was not completely cooked through, sadly on both plates of the two of us who ordered it, though admittedly was very thick. My wife got the double cut pork chop which was excellent with a nice sorghum glaze- very good though would have fed two people. We did order a Poully-fume we are familiar with, but it was served very warm. The taste seemed a bit off... and on reflection I should have declined it. Trying not to be "that customer" I asked them to chill it which they did. Sadly, it did not improve. it was a 2020 and I assume the warm storage it experienced ( from the initial serving temperature I must assume it has been stored in a hot environment) and quite frankly expected the restaurant to know better on whites wine storage. Vegetables were sadly uninspired. Very friendly staff and manager, but must assume some of the stellar reviews were more related to that than the food quality. The menu is limited ( which is fine) however with that small an entree offering would assume they should have down the preparation. I really wanted to like it better.

To say the food was absolutely delicious is an understatement! No description will give it justice. Everything was full of flavor and was just delightful. Their gumbo was the best I’ve had, served in a hot caldron with seasoned riced, a hearty amount of sausage, topped with fresh herbs. The steak was cooked perfectly to my preferred temperature and came sizzling on cast iron. The service was fantastic, professional and hospitable. I can’t wait to return on my next visit back to NOLA!

Wonderful gumbo with a very buttery cornbread. The mahi-mahi was flavorful with a delicious side of veges and gnocchi. Portions were modest, which I like. Great ambiance and friendly service.

The food was reasonable good Simple NO , no frills food. The price was the same as the price in the leading restaurants in NO The restaurant was almost empty The ambience was ok, the seat cushions had several holes on it. The cleanliness was “ok”. For this price range it is not acceptable. The waitress was very friendly , she really tried her best
