The steak Diane was excellent! The ambience is enjoyable, red velvet wing chairs white table cloths, jazz playing. The location is problematic bc, well, train station but we got free parking in the lot across the street.There are a few folks around who are not totally in a great mental space. This is a historic building and is interesting also bc train station So, on the not so great side, we walked in to a couple of the staff having a minor emergency meeting at the reception desk. Not the fine dining experience we were looking for. The food was generally over salted and overpriced but again the steak was good. $240 for 2 (with wine) could have been better. It felt like a restaurant that couldn’t decide between being fine or casual. Finally, there were big ol’ house flies that were,ummm, distracting. Please don’t leave the door in a restaurant wide open!

The Jazz night and 3 Course meal was nice. Did not know about the cover charge and that no Groupon was accepted with the three courses meal and Jazz night. Was not expecting a $30 cover. Service was lackluster. Music was very good.

Our server was very professional and friendly. The wilfs salad was delicious. Wonderful croutons and dressing.

The music was fantastic. Great service--mediocre food. We were using a Groupon which we told them upfront. They raised the price on the soup $10 (from $17 to $27) to bring it to an entree price. They claimed the Groupon states that entrees must be ordered. It doesn't! They could have explained upfront that I needed to order an entree. They didn't. They could have said they were going to charge an additional $10 for French onion soup. They didn't. The manager said that it states in the fine print that (2) entrees need to be ordered. It does not state that. His alternative was to not use the Groupon and come back again to use it. No way! Ten dollars on a check that was over $190 isn't a big deal. It's the principle. The guys is insisting on what was in the fine print and clearly didn't know. Could have been handled so much better with upfront communication, but they instead decided to add $10 to the bill without saying a word. Slimy management!

A classic old-school restaurant right in downtown Portland. The vibe was great, the music was EXCELLENT, and the service was incredible. I wish I lived in Portland, so I could visit the lounge at Wilf's every week.

Have been to Wilfs many times through the years. Food has always been fantastic and service, while sometimes a little “different “ has always been well intentioned if not always perfect. Tonight’s experience was not what we would call normal, and well not good either. Multiple things fell through the cracks. Wilfs is known for their table side entrees, salads and desserts. The normal person who does these was on vacation in Canada. The “backup” did just fine on the Steak Diane, even though she didn’t take the opportunity to excite us with what she was creating. During the table side Caesar salad, she talked with our server about some special deal for cheap wine she was looking forward to at Grocery Outlet this weekend. We were also charged extra for my wife requesting to sub vegetables instead of the potatoes with her dish even though I ordered a double helping of the starch! AND we were forced to pay a 22% gratuity (we normally leave anywhere between 18-25%) without any consideration on the service and meal. My steak Diane was amazing! My wife’s prime rib was super chewy. Not a great cut…

It wasn’t clear on open table that no matter if you order food or spend over a certain amount that you will be charged a cover charge. So surprised after spending close to $280 that we got charged a cover for the jazz band. Also the waitress took our uneaten food to wrap up and then never returned with it. So not a great experience. Unless you want to head live music, go pay the cover and just drink.
