   Unfortunately, we're entering the last week of West Café. We have found this to be an excellent place in which to hold meetings every couple of months or so - we gather from both the metro area and the south Willamette valley - and have always enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. Best wishes to everyone as they enter a new phase in their lives, and thanks for wonderful evenings!

   West Cafe has been dependable all the way through. The marks a bit lower because of slow service, but it was Father's Day and they were PACKED. Most days it's on the spot and the menu has something for everyone. I'll be back!

   We have been to this restaurant before and it was fabulous. This time 4 out 4 meals were absolutely terrible. Not edible. The smell of bad seafood was present the minute the food was served. Our server kept apologizing for the delay in our service and meals. She did have time to actually sit at a couple guests tables while we waited for our drinks. They were served after the meals were delivered. I will try this place again for many reasons. 1: The owner is delightful and works hard. 2: My previous meals were perfect.

   We tried West Cafe for the first time; it may be our only visit. Almost to a person, reviews indicated friendly, attentive service. We had the opposite experience. They came to my attention via Open Table. We live 30 miles away but frequent the Portland area about 2-3 times a month, checking out eateries with good service and food reviews. On entering the restaurant, someone at the bar hollered, 'we'll be with you in a minute' -- there was no greeter or hostess up front. So I stood there for a couple of minutes, then a young gal walked up & asked if I needed a table. "Yes, my husband's parking the car," I have a reservation on Open Table. From there, she didn't utter a greeting, just silently led me to a table, explained the extra sheet was the day's specials and left. About 5 minutes later, she returned, again NO greeting. I explained this was OUR FIRST VISIT -- Again, no WELCOME, no Hello, just ZIP. Things got worse from there. We eventually ordered after she delivered beverages. Husband ordered a waffle, I ordered the scramble special of the day. They brought his order then mine- but they brought me the wrong entree (delivered by another waitress). When I explained it wasn't what I ordered, she replied, "Well I didn't take your order so I don't know what happened. I'll get you what you wanted." What happened next has NEVER HAPPENED! The original non-communicative waitress returned with the same incorrect dish, a brunch menu and said, "Didn't you order the 1st item on this list?!?" Whoa! I replied, "No, i ordered the 2nd item on the list." She did NOT apologize, just turned around & left. OMG! Eventually, I got my entree. It was delicious but nearly impossible to "enjoy" ~ it felt as though I was the one who hadn't listened PROPERLY. And when we left, NO ONE said "Thanks for visiting, have a nice day, ZIP! Our waitress looked right at me as we left, just stared BLANKLY. Truly, one of the strangest dining experiences of our lives!

   It was our first time to West Café and the food and service were wonderful. I will definitely go back again.

   Found this place by accident online. Dad visiting from Calif loves Jazz music. Happened to be in town on the second Saturday of the month to enjoy Jazz music live. Tasty food, a little on the high end. Perfect background music to hold a conversation.

   Nice food, service and atmosphere in a low-key setting. Great for those who like good food, fine wine and conversation (not a shouting scene as in many trendy restaurants).

   What a little gem! The wait staff was so friendly and helpful. The menu was creative and had something for everyone. Lots of good brunch items, but it was nice to have all the regular lunch items also available. The specials were terrific. Portion sizes were perfect- not too little, not too huge. All of our meals tasted like fancy home cooked food- no over-use of oil or butter. Definitely stop in!

    Really enjoyed the food. I had a banana leaf wrapped pork dish with a red curry. My wife had a yellow curry vegetarian dish. Both were excellent. Had a piano player and vocals for live music. Really made for a nice dinner.
