   First visit (friends recommendation). Pleasant friendly cosy place. Lovely fire place and staff. Very chilling and relaxing atmosphere. Shame is closing in a week however planning to return to check if new management kept its character.

   I was a little disappointed on this occasion, we had to send the soup back as it was cold which was a surprise as a group on another table had done the same prior to us ordering. Have dined here on a number of occasions but felt that the staff were a little disinteested. On settling the bill by card I left a tip in cash and the young man was more interested in grabbing the money without a thank you.

   A warm welcome, good service and an interesting although rather basic menu meant we had a pleasant lunch. Staff very attentive.

   Our second visit to the wellington arms. Traditional décor, good food and exceptional service combine to make a very pleasant experience. Would strongly recommend.

   We came to your establishment to celebrate our anniversary but were quite disappointed at the level of service provided. Our waiter was not aware of the range of drinks available from the bar and had to go and check what there was, plus, we had to ask for a wine list. We ordered our drinks but a different waitress came over several minutes later to take a drinks order from us. Our waiter was also not fully aware of the meals on offer and had to go away to get an explanation of a particular menu item. One of the side dishes we ordered did not arrive at all and as it was very difficult to attract staff attention we eventually gave up - the item was removed from the bill. Once we had finished our meal we asked a member of staff to order us a taxi. We were handed a slip of paper with a phone number on and told to call it ourselves. When we did it went straight to answerphone so we ended up finding number via google, ordered a cab, and left. While the food was of a very good standard and good value for the price we paid, the staff were simply not up to the job. They were pleasant, friendly and accommodating but the service provided was perfunctory at best and the points I have raised are to the lack of staff training - this is a management responsibility and that is wholly where the fault lies.

   Very nice family lunch at the Wellington Arms. Good choice of food. It was quite busy, but the service was a bit slow.

   Excellent meal - But the only restaurant in the UK with no cheese option for the third course, which means if you don't want or can't eat (no doubt very good) sweets there are just two courses. In the past the chef has always produced cheese on request, but not this time, so disappointed. Said they hadn't got any, and some of the main courses, 'specials!' were 'off' even though it was early evening. Need to add a cheeseboard, get up to speed with the menu. But as I said, excellent food and service. Occasionally take business contacts there, usually get the cheese!

    This was our first visit to the Wellington Arms and we will certainly go back again,especially to have the excellent homemade treacle tart. We went on Fathers Day and the bottle of free craft beer for dads on the day was a nice touch. All front of house staff worked the restaurant very well with not one person being solely responsible for your table. See you again soon,save some treacle tart for us !!!
