In 1889, during a visit to Naples, a pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil was created to honor Queen Margherita. The pizza’s ingredients matched the colors of the Italian flag. We use authentic dough and only the freshest ingredients to make our pizza. We bake the pizza for approximately 90 seconds at 1,000 degrees. Pizza Napoletano has several distinctive characteristics. Pizza in Napoli is soft and can be folded. It is considered “wet” by American standards. For this reason, people in Napoli generally eat their pizza with a knife and fork. Blackened charred spots on the pizza crust are a tell-tale sign of pizza Napoletano that has been cooked in q blistering hot, wood burning oven. Each pizza is an individual work of art.

Vulcano is one of our favorite restaurants in Rockville Centre. The pizza is so fresh and very Neapolitan. It's the closest thing to real Italian pizza that I have tried outside of Italy! I would highly suggest this place to anyone who wants a really tasty pizza - and their apps are to die for as well. Tons of flavor.

Very nice restaurant! Food was delicious and fresh . Pizza could of been a little more cooked on the bottom , but full of flavor. Enjoyed being able to hear and converse during my meal.

What a hidden gem Vulcano 081 is. From start to finish, we all had a wonderful experience. Adrian, our server was attentive and told us all about the history of the family and the restaurant. Even went so far as to ask my parents where in Italy there were from because he found it so fascinating that each region in Italy spoke different dialects. The food was presented in such a clean, simple manner. Everything we had was delicious and we cannot wait to go back again.
