Veselka - Second Ave has been serving up delectable Ukrainian cuisine in the heart of New York�s East Village since 1954. For over six decades patrons have shrugged the weight of the day off in this cozy coffee shop to savor classic pierogi, goulash, borscht and stroganoff. Tradition is never compromised at Veselka, where you can sit with friends and discuss events, or stay quiet by yourself and get lost in the comfortable food. Veselka, like anything built from scratch, came from humble beginnings. It started out as an unadorned newsstand, serving sandwiches and soups to the masses. It�s now grown into a twenty-four hour sought after place of congregation. Veselka has been a mainstay on this corner of East Ninth and Second Avenue since its conception and plans to stay that way for years to come.
