   Went to the newly christened Vanzants, formerly Due South and we had a fantastic experience. It was an anniversary dinner and the ambience, food and service was a first rate. We will definitely keep this spot in our rotation.

   This was our first time eating at Vanzant's with the buffet set up. The food was quite good, fresh, and a good variety of salads, pasta, meats, seafood, sides, and great desserts! The service was excellent. We never had to wait on condiments, water, drinks, etc. We highly recommend the Sunday buffet!

   The service is excellent although some of that could be a result of the restaurant only being half full at best. However we had a couple issues with the food. The Frutti di Mare had squid that was very tough due to overcooking, even the tail which is usually very tender. My mother-in-law couldn’t eat it. The management graciously removed the cost of the dish off the bill. I ordered the filet mignon which stated 8 oz for $37. I also ordered Bernaise sauce with it. The Bernaise sauce never arrived and by the time we had a chance to tell the waiter I was halfway thru the steak and was almost done eating. The big problem came in when presented with the bill. The waiter had already stated they would honor the price of the filet on the menu. But the bill stated $48 not $37. We brought that to his attention and he said he thought he already had fixed that but took it and came back with the filet at $45. By this time the rest of my party just wanted to leave but on my way out I spoke with the waiter who claimed that the menu said $45 for the filet…uh…no…it said $37. He earlier had said they still had a few earlier menus in circulation and that’s what I had. Regardless, he didn’t seem to know the actual cost if a filet mignon as at one time he said there was a $12-$14 difference between the 6 oz and 8 oz but there was no 6 oz on my menu that I saw. Lastly my husband had the ribs. He said they were good but not as good as Due South’s used to be

   Our group had a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Natalie was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. Need more restaurants on the Southside like Vanzant’s!

    Two weeks ago I ate at Vanzants for the first time celebrating an engagement. The food was excellent and service was spot on. Today I went back and had lunch with my sister and brother. The service that Will gave us was spot on. They didn’t rush us as we were catching up on each other’s lives. Again, the food was cooked perfect. I recommend them highly.
