Tiffin Wallah, in India translates as "one who carries the box" Tiffin Wallahs originated over a century ago to bring tasty Indian food to work place and have evolved into an amazing lunch delivery system in India. This is one of the best South Indian restaurants in Manhattan, better than the more famous Sarvana Bhavan. Great taste, quick efficient service and a nice family ambience. Took me right back to the Udipi restaurants of Mumbai. Highly recommended for vegetarians and anyone looking for some spicy Indian fare.

A little overy priced but over-all the quality of food is good. We'd Spring roll Dosa which I'd recommend to everyone and Biselibath which was tasty but had very large pieces of vegetables and Drum-sticks which we didn't really like.

Food was excellent. We had various chaats for appetizer including a Bhel Puri and an Aloo Chaat. There were a number of other tempting items I regretted having to pass on, including Dahi Vada, Idli, and Pao Bhajji. For an entree I had the Malabar Paratha with Korma, and it was excellent. Several of my companions chose from the wide variety of Dosas available and all were very pleased. Our table was held for us even though we were quite late which was very much appreciated.

The south indian dishes were authentic and delicious. Our favorite was the coconut dosa which was surprisingly amazing and definitely worth trying. They also have Jain options which is pretty great :)

The food was fantastic, the service was great although our waiter was a bit awkward about things-- such as standing over us for 15 seconds after he placed down our appetizer as if waiting for us to eat as he watched over. It's good food and a good value.

This is a favorite spot for a friend and me. The food as always was wonderful. We always have the paper masala, a rice dish and appetizer. This time we had the chickpea appetizer and it will probably become a part of the standard order. We have followed Chennai Gardens to Chennai gardens by Tiffin Wallah and lived through its different incarnations/modifications in the new spot. Right now, it is quite nice. The waitstaff could be friendlier though - they are a bit stolid.
