   Thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was exceptional. The porterhouse steak was cooked exactly as we all wanted it. The service was one of the best we have had recently.

   Usually a fantastic restaurant. However the steak all the party felt was not upto the usual standard.

   I have eaten here before and the service and food is always impeccable. Would definitely recommend.

   Lovely food and service. Even brought my friend a cake, with candle, because they overheard that it was his birthday. Friendly staff and really good atmosphere.

   Very professional and thoughtful service as ever, and this time we had roast dinner from the set menu, which was lovely. Rest of family greatly enjoyed their puds - I didn't have one. Ambience - waiters seemed a bit rushed, as might be expected for Fathers' Day Sunday lunchtime, & decor is odd and old fashioned but I like that - is somehow reassuring, & I'd much rather they invested in food and staff than fancy interiors.

   The staff were absolutely lovely, especially the maitre d', who gave us a potted history of the venue and told us about the afternoon teas and other special deals. The food was beautifully prepared and stylishly presented, but the underlying quality of ingredients stopped our meals from tasting outstanding. The lamb was tasty and well received, but the pork and chicken both lacked flavour, like average supermarket meat - cooked with great skill, certainly, but it made us feel the price tag was a bit too much. With better ingredients, the cost would have felt good value for the skill that had obviously gone into the prep. The smoking mushroom presentation was fun but my friend said the mushrooms themselves tasted too much like ash and not enough like the culinary-smoked flavour he was expecting. Would certainly go back but would choose a set menu rather than a la carte - if we'd done this first, I think it would've felt like good value.

   We have been eating at the Wycliffe many times over the years both as a family and in groups and have never been disappointed. The staff are always attentive, good natured and professional in all respects.

   Disappointed about the overall dining experience. We waited 40 mins despite booking our table. no apology from the owner for the delay. it was not value for money. l had beef strogonoff . The portion of the main dish excluding rice would have been more suited to a child, with 2 carrot pieces and 1 broccoli stem. There was no taste or flavor. My partner had the Lancashire hotpot. a portion of stewed meat with 3 slices of potato on top! l do not normally complain on websites such has these, but l am getting increasingly tired of paying full price for meals that are below parr. ,Maybe this review will encourage the owners to discuss with their chefs what they are actually providing and look to provide a menu that lives up to its name.

   My wife and I went for dinner and had the 321 menu. The quality of the food was excellent and great value. My confit duck portion was very generous. The staff were very good and always ready to help.

    Cannot fault the food & service. I have been to the restaurant on several occasions now for evening meals mid week and to the gourmet evenings which are just brilliant. I would recommend to all. Can't wait for the next one on 22nd August! A must for all food & wine lovers.
