   Great place with excellent ambience!! The woolpack is a great place with decent food and great atmosphere. Staff are really helpful. It can be really busy, especially near Christmas. Had celebrated my 30th Birthday here with some friends and everyone loved the place!!

   Really great find. We went as a big group of friends for a reunion, and the relaxed atmosphere was perfect. Ordering drinks and food at the bar means no faff splitting the bill at the end, and despite us all ordering separately, our food arrived together and was fantastic. I ordered a salt beef sandwich, and it was delicious, juicy and huge. We were seated upstairs, and there was still a real buzz, with plenty of space for our group. Highly recommend.

   The woolpack is one of my favourite neighbourhood pub. It is cosy and always packed. The atmosphere is fantastic especially in the summer/Autumn when you can sit outside in the garden. This time we went for Sunday roast dinner around 6pm (I know slightly late) unfortunately they had run out of yorkshires and almost run out of roasts altogether. The pork was a bit dry (but beef was fab) Nevertheless, overall we enjoyed our dinner!

   We had a lovely time at the Woolpack for a bit of a friends reunion last Saturday afternoon. The staff were lovely and the food was great plus they have a fab selection of beers. Sadly though the wine is very overpriced. Prices start very high, more like restaurant prices, but the general offer simply doesn't match that level of wine. We stuck to the beer. We did noticed that no one else was drinking wine either. We arrived at 2pm and still had friends joining throughout the afternoon and it was great to be able to just hang out - but we were sad to be told at 4.30 that children were not allowed after 5pm. Most pubs we go to have a 6pm curfew, some later. The staff we're very accommodating though as we had travelled up from Brighton and they allowed us an extra half hour which was much appreciated, but for a pub which serves food I personally feel 5pm is a little early. All in all though a lovely pub and we'll definitely go back again.

   The roofs allow outside dining cone rain or shine. Staff is friendly and kids more than welcome

   Great place to book for a large group (I booked for 15 people upstairs) and we all comfortably sat and had delicious pub food and a couple of drinks. The place is pretty loud and dark due to it being a very social environment particularly on a Friday night but overall had a lovely time.

   As part of a group of six I enjoyed a good late lunch/early dinner at The Woolpack on New Year's Day. The menu has plenty of good choices, with classics like fish and chips (three of us had this) and some slightly more imaginative options too. The portions were generous with the exception of the pie. It is probably bigger than it looks but is served in a small pie dish and separate vegetables. The person who ordered it was a bit out out when seeing it compared to the fish and chips! The staff are fine if not overly friendly and the service was good - everything came pretty much together despite us ordering separately. One comment I'd make is customers should be aware that the upstairs can become really hot! We had booked up there, but ended up moving downstairs when a table become free because it was far too warm. I definitely recommend this pub and will continue to visit.

   I'd been to the Garrison, across the street from the Woolpack, many times but never stumbled into this place. I'm not sure why as it's a great old pub with outdoor space in the back and a substantial pub menu. Their burgers were outstanding and we were all stuffed after the generous and delicious portions. Was a rowdy post-Christmas party hangover atmosphere when we went and it had a high level of energy to it. Would definitely recommend booking in advance on a Saturday or Sunday to get a table.

    Visited as a small group for a pre-Christmas Sunday lunch and get together. Excellent food, and good range of options. The atmosphere was great, very festive and staff really good. Will definitely be going back and would recommend
