   We finished off three different and very nice bottles of Rioja between two of us. The help yourself meats and cheese complimented it perfectly. Nice to chat to the owner who has been there since 1988.

   It’s a city classic and a perfect hideaway. I love the fact it has not changed in 20years.

   Always a warm welcome and great advice on wines; lovely simple food. Just the ticket. In a different league from the typical "wine bar"

   Fairly unique spot in the City and an excellent venue to catch up one on one or in a small group in what is a relaxed and informal setting. Food is simple but excellent quality and a decent selection of good wine at reasonable prices.

   A wonderful range of wines sold at shop (rather than restaurant) prices (+ a little corkage) with an excellent (but limited) array of cold dishes (pates, cheeses antipasti etc). I've been going there for over 20 years. The wines are not supermarket plonk -- all well-chosen bottles from mainly smaller growers.

   Great experience for all wine and cheese lovers. A plentiful choice of wines that are reasonably priced but bears little resemblance to the final bill.

    The Wine Shop is absolutely excellent, great expertise and knowledge, beautifully laid out and accessible. The food, while pleasant, was rather disappointing. A buffet of dried meats, pate and cheese all of reasonable standard, but for £18.50 per head did not really represent good value for money. A cheese platter to accompany wine, yes, a meal, unfortunately no.
