   Took my friend there for a birthday treat. Man in reception wasn’t very friendly. Looked like he didn’t want to be there. Told to take a seat in the reception area and brought us drinks menu. We ordered two teas. They came to our little table in the reception area with no teaspoons or sugar just a little pot of milk. We were then brought the main menu which we didn’t want as we wanted the afternoon tea menu. He brought this and we said we wanted the afternoon tea. He then told us we had to book that in advance! I wasn’t given the option to book any meal online. We de died to just order scones. They were brought to the table in reception so we asked if we could sit in the main restaurant area which they said we could. We had to bring our pot of tea and cups etc through to the restaurant. There were only three other people in there the whole time we were there. The food was ok. Scones very small for the price. It was cold, no music and lacked atmosphere. The staff weren’t over friendly and we couldn’t wait to leave. Won’t bother returning which is a shame as the setting is very nice.

   The restaurant was quiet when we ate, which meant it lacked atmosphere, but the food and service were both very good. I would recommend it and will visit again.

   Food was very good but portions very small was more like sitting in a cafe than a cosy restaurant only 4 people in total on a Saturday night not supricing with the pricing for the portion sizes

   We were only given the more expensive restaurant menu for lunch on arrival, not the lunch menu. We ordered the fish platter anf the vegetarian platter, neither of which came with the listed components such as dips, crudités, pate. What was provided was good but poor value for money. The floor was grubby, there was a door to the kitchen that permanently squeaked and the guy who was serving us was not particularly attentive.

   nice room managed by only one front of house chap. He managed ....... but it wasn’t good. The menu offered some good options, but my starter was a joke. Goat’s cheese and beetroot ........ a small slate rectangle had three blobs of goat’s cheese and two or three minute cubes of beetroot ....... and some beetroot dust! Mains and deserts were OK

   We were celebrating my husband's 59th birthday and our 21st wedding anniversary. I am so glad I chose the Wharfhouse, which I had been meaning to try for some time, as my husband was bowled over. He thought it was the best steak he had ever eaten and one of the very best meals ever. He is so hard to please when dining out that I was thrilled and we will definitely return.

    So expensive!! £55 for two courses & 3 drinks. Needed to ask for the music to be put on to create some kind of atmosphere. We were the only diners. Our pork loin was served very pink. Which is permissible now but one of our diners had to leave it as she felt uncomfortable eating it or ruining the groups experience by sending it back to be cooked more. We were there an hour before we ate anything.
