   Pro’s - probably the best food you will find on the island, in an historic waterfront location and with an impressive wine list. Cons - our ordering a bottle of white with the fish course and a bottle of red with the steaks seemed to totally confuse the wait staff, made more complicated by them serving both courses ridiculously quickly so the wine waiter could not get to us in time and both wines arrived half way through the courses. We felt extremely rushed through the food, but there was clearly no reason for it, as they had no subsequent sitting - just a lack of thought / coordination. This is billed as a fine dining experience and the food, wine, cost levels certainly support that - but pairing great food with excellent wine is what it’s all about and that seemed a real challenge. Oddly there were a lot of staff doing very little - old fashioned greeters and hosts coming to your table etc, but this is a place with $1500 bottles of wine on the wine list that doesn't get the basics of serving the right wine with the right course or even how much wine to pour into a glass. Disappointing as both the food and wine were excellent.

   The restaurant was CLOSED. As we got there by cab we were stranded for an hour til we could get a ride. This was to be Don's 55th birthday dinner where his parents had their 25th anniversary. Don's 50th was ruined by Covid and now his 55th was ruined by Open Table and the Southampton Fairmont.

   Dear Bobby, I'm deeply sorry to hear about your experience with our restaurant closure, especially given the significant occasion it was meant to celebrate. I can only imagine how disappointing and frustrating it must have been to arrive by cab for Don's special 55th birthday dinner—a celebration with such meaningful family history—only to find our doors closed. Unfortunately, we experienced an emergency situation where our power was completely knocked out, which also affected our water supply. We genuinely tried to reach out to all of our reservations to notify them of this unexpected closure, but regrettably, we were unable to make contact with you despite our attempts.    Would highly recommend the eggplant vegetarian entree and the brussels sprouts. These were the highlights. The waiter recommended sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and it was very good. The pouring of the wine was very generous! What spoilt the meal for us was the revolting water. At first we got tap water for the table, and it tasted salty and chlorinated. So we had to buy bottled water. Then we ordered coffee which all agreed was undrinkable. Those that had soup commented it was salty, possibly also linked to the water. It was a shame, as the food and surroundings were otherwise excellent.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed our eggplant vegetarian entree and brussels sprouts - they are indeed menu highlights that our chef takes great pride in. However, I want to sincerely apologize for the water quality issues you experienced. You're absolutely right that this detracted from what should have been an excellent dining experience. A lightning strike had affected our local desalination plant that evening, but this is no excuse for serving water that wasn't up to standard. After your feedback, we immediately stopped serving tap water and closed the restaurant the following night until the water quality was restored. Thank you again for your valuable feedback.    We decided last minute to book a birthday dinner at The Waterlot, marking my fifth visit since their reopening in December 2024. As always, the service was exceptional. Patrick, our server, managed multiple tables but made us feel like we were his only guests. Alex was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the wines, and both Brent and Barry stopped by our table, showcasing their professionalism. For three people, we ordered a variety of appetizers before our mains. The rockfish brioche and wagyu bites were delicious, and the wedge salad and tableside Caesar were perfect starters. The fresh oysters were a delightful treat! For our main courses, we had an 18oz and a 14oz ribeye. My medium rare steak was one of the tastiest I've ever had. We also ordered scrumptious Brussels sprouts and new potatoes as sides. With so much food, we didn't get to sample the eggplant, which we boxed to take home—a rare occurrence for us. Thank-you Waterlot for another wonderful dinner!

   Can’t say enough good things! Newly remodeled, the decor was so thoughtful and well done . Vibes were 10/10. The service was wonderful all around. All the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed every course. Highly recommend.
