   This was our first visit to the Victoria. We had to wait a little while as our table wasn’t ready ( a busy restaurant is a good sign ). It was a rather noisy as there was a table of about 6 behind us. My friend & I had the pâté , which was delicious. As it was Sunday the menu was slightly different & I requested something from the á la carte menu. Hannah B , our waitress was very pleasant & helpful. She said she would ask the chef ( Reece ) if he could serve me from the á la carte & he said no problem . Great service. All the food was delicious & portions we’re good. Prices reasonable too. We all enjoyed the food & will definitely return.

   Environment and service were very good! Main course was very good too. Disappointed with the starter which was mushroom in tempura batter. The mushrooms were all sliced and all I can taste is the tempura batter and not mushroom. It’s the first time that I am disappointed with a starter. Feedback verbally was given to waitress to be passed on to the chef! Would have preferred if it was 2 whole mushrooms fried in tempura batter!

   Unfortunately we were sat meant that there were people pushing past all through our meal which did spoil it somewhat

   I am a regular as normally everything is great, but we were let down by the food on this occasion. The fish and chips was fine as was the normal burger. However the vegan burger looked as though it had come out of a frozen packet, formed like a teardrop patty rather than a hand made burger which I was expecting. It tasted ok, just looked mass produced. The main problem wa s with vegetarian pasta which had a piece of plastic in it. We weren’t charged for it but it was disappointing. The brownie was very stodgy too, not light and melt in the mouth as on other occasions.

   Lovely meal, excellent service. Would definitely go again. Loved the fact that they cater for customers who require alcohol free drinks. I had a soft tail which was lovely. Not just the boring drinks such as Diet Coke or lime and soda.
