We arrived with quite high expectations after seeing everyone rant and rave about this place. The interior is quirky, and different, which is nice, and was also rather comfy and it was nice to chill out whilst it wasn't so busy. I had the pesto and mozzarella risotto balls to start, which were rather yummy and I could have eaten a whole plate of them followed by the Lobster and shrimp burger, which wasn't so yummy, the outsides of the burger just had a burnt taste, and the burger just crumbled and fell from the bun. My other half had the Indonesian chicken sate with peanut sauce, which again was nothing special and average at best, and then the beef brisket burrito to follow, which was average also, and was definitely not a burrito and merely just meat slapped into a tortilla, with a dollop of sour cream only at one end of the wrap. I was quite excited for the fun array of cocktails listed on their website, and when we arrived they had updated their menu to a winter menu, which, is understandable. However, nothing stuck out at all. I ended up having a 'pinocchio nose', which I could merely drink due to it just tasting like watered down alcohol. Shame really, as I had higher hopes for The Toy Shop. I probably wouldn't suggest going to eat there, unless you're having plate after plate of the risotto balls, however it is perhaps good for drinks with a bunch of friends.

The food isn't good, not the steak or the burrito at least - it tastes like something you'd buy at a corner shop not at a restaurant. Otherwise the venue is fun and they made a nice effort on how it looks. The staff was brilliant so this was good too.

Great concept but slow service, i was seated for 20minutes before anyone came to serve me, then once i had a menu another 25minutes for 2 cocktails to arrive? food was fun, drinks were yum and a lovely evening had by all.

We had a good night at the Toy Shop with fun twists on food and drinks. The wait staff were friendly and approachable and provided advice on the menu. It is not a quiet night with the DJ kicking in around 9pm so if you are looking for a quiet one this is not the right place but it is active, lively and a friendly place. The Toy Shop was extremely good value for money in terms of food not so much for drinks.

Booked a table for the restaurant on Sat 25/10 as we were celebrating something special and this place has a cool quirky vibe... Or so I thought. We were stuck upstairs with the full doors/windows open. It was FREEZING but weren't allowed to move.Had to dine with my coat on. Service was shockingly poor. As we were stuck upstairs even the server didn't make an appearance apart from when our food was delivered. No one came back to ask how our meals were and we had to search for someone to get the bill. Ordered pumpkin gnocchi which dreadful!!The sauce was pure vinegar & if you found pumpkin you'd be lucky. Complained, manager did nothing about it, still had to pay yet I couldn't eat it. manager had the cheek to imply I was in the wrong

we have been to the toy shop as a group on numerous occasions, we really enjoy the cocktails and the quirky food in lunch boxes. However last Friday (19th) we found the service to be very poor! We had to ask for drinks everytime and waited between 15 and 25 mins for our drinks to be served!! Yes, we where disappointed even more so when we spotted the bar staff drinking shots together at the bar, while we waited for our drinks!!

I had to organise a night out for my friends 30th birthday. We wasn't sure if we wanted to eat & where to go but I was recommended the toy shop by a couple of people so checked the website out. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the menu was so decided to give it a go. We loved the quirky munch boxes at around £7 to soak up the wine & playful cocktails with lollipops in & the guy singing old classic songs in his own mash up style got everyone up dancing. The service was great & overall we had a wicked time & will be back possibly for our girls Christmas night out....just nice to go somewhere a little different x

In the bright lights of day you can see that the place was either put together cheaply or already falling apart. Paint chipped, MDF decor badly constructed, everything looking a bit grubby. Probably better to visit at night! Service was attentive but lacking in quality. For example, a bottle of wine we ordered was plonked on the table in a wine cooler but left unopened and the waitress walked away. The food was average and was priced accordingly.

Was a fun, slightly quirky place! Good happy hour, nice cocktails and well presented food/drinks. Service was very friendly. Will definitely come again.
