   As the only customers in on a Thu eve for my birthday - the place seats 100 - it was pretty embarrassing. The man who served us was great and the food was fine - not outstanding. We didn't linger in the circumstances nor order more than one course and made do with a couple of glasses of wine rather than a bottle as we just wanted to get out and go to somewhere with some atmosphere. The décor and position are good - chairs not the most comfortable. Unfortunately based on this visit I could not recommend - I am sure it would have been different with more customers though!

   Had to send our starter back of scallops because they was still raw and not very pleasant our main meals was good

   Great food, priced how I would expect, and good portions for the price. Love the décor. Very fitting with the large ship in the harbour overlooking the restaurant. Enjoyed the music, which was at a good level. Service was very attentive but not obtrusive. Overall, no complaints and I look forward to visiting again.

   Love this place, something a little different for little Whitby. But wow love. Just booked my third trip there

   Picked out this restaurant because of previous reviews of the fish, as we were spending the weekend in Whitby. Slightly disappointed as when we started to order the food at 7.30 on a Saturday evening the scallops were off the menu, ran out, what's all that about !!!!!!!!

   Lovely experience. Bit cold but the restaurant arranged mini heaters near the windows which was appreciated. Great service and lovely food. I had the snout and surf and my husband had the partridge pie which was delicious.

   Had a delicious meal here on Friday evening. The food was outstanding. Some might consider it expensive but this was proper chef prepared food so well worth it in our opinion. Our waitress was lovely and friendly as well as being very efficient. All in all a perfect evening.

    As fairly new vegans we were a bit nervous about eating out - and The Star is well known for meat and fish - but we had the most wonderful vegan meal. Wholeheartedly recommended!
