   Superb food and really lovely staff. If you are going to Stow eat here! The food and staff are so good we are going to stay here next time we visit !

   We’ve visited Stow on the Wold and The Stag several times now and have always had lovely food, a warm welcome and great service. We stayed here at The Stag on this trip too and it was as we had hoped…perfect!

   My husband had a sirloin steak and I had a rump steak. The steaks were cooked exactly as we requested and we enjoyed a satisfying main meal followed by an indulgent dessert each. The knickerbocker glory was especially yummy. The service was excellent but the restaurant wasn't particularly busy early evening midweek. The ambience was just right and we enjoyed a memorable evening as a pre birthday treat for my husband I certainly recommend The Stag at Stow

   Amazing meal. We had the pie for 2 and it was outstanding. Massive portion and decent value for money. A pint did set me back £7 but other than that it was incredible. Definitely will go back!

   Ordered Steak and I have to say it was better cooked than a steak I had at a very top steak restaurant in Birmingham. Perfectly cooked.

   I booked The Stag as a special meal for my dad's 70th birthday. I chose it because I read recommendations for gluten free options due to my mother being coeliac. Overall it was ok. Food took a long time and my children were very tired and hungry. My mothers gluten free burger came out cold (likely it had been sitting for some time) and when she told staff, they took it away, promising a new one and it came out again warmed up but crispy. She was rather disappointed, but does not like making a fuss. Our steaks on the other hand were very nice. It being a special occasion, I mentioned this in my booking form so that my dad would feel special, but despite coming in with balloon and all, no comment or birthday wishes were made. I know its no TGI Friday and I wasn't expecting a song and dance, but it is nice when a special occasion is acknowledged.

   The wine list was disappointing - mostly French and very limited choices. The food was different and cooked nicely - but nothing special. We ordered after dinner drinks that when brought were incorrect … overall an expensive evening for nothing special - albeit it was a special occasion for us - but we were never asked about that.

   I did request a roast chicken meal when I booked the table but it wasn’t an option when we came to eat. But the beef was delicious as an alternative

    Not our first time at the Stag because the food is always good but this time the service was found wanting, dropping the venue down our list of good places to eat in Stow and surrounding areas.
